Four-star campsite Lanterna is located on the peninsula of the same name in Istria and is huge, but due to its layout not massive. You could say that this campground consists of several campsites, and in fact that is true: several themed villages have been chosen, but the sea is never far away in the process. The campground has no less than three kilometers of coastline at its disposal. Lanterna is located between the towns of Novigrad and the famous town of Poreč, and in addition, Slovenia and Italy are not far away. This campground is in the middle of nature, full of pines, pines and oaks. The campground houses several pool complexes, three supermarkets, several restaurants and there are bakeries everywhere, so breakfast is never far away. Camping Lanterna is one of those campsites where there is plenty to do for everyone. For children, adolescents, young adults and adults. And that in a wonderful climate: Istria is and remains a dream destination.
The north of the Croatian province of Istria, in other words. Near the truly beautiful town of Poreč, with its narrow streets, old center and coziness. Istria has many ancient, Roman influences. Be sure to visit Pula, with its ancient Amphitheater. Rovinj and Umag are also definitely worth visiting. Further north is Slovenia, where the town of Koper is located. This place is also sometimes called Capodistria, in case you can’t find Koper… Slovenia’s coastline is very small, so before you know it you’ll be in Italy and can visit the beautiful city of Trieste. If all the water fun at the campsite still proves insufficient, you can always visit aqua park Istralandia nearby. So the choice is great!
Camping Lanterna consists of several themed villages, all with their own charm, own structure. It ensures that this nevertheless huge campground never actually feels massive. In terms of pitches, then, there is plenty to choose from. Generally they are on sloping terrain, with plenty of shade. The area ranges from 60 to well over 100 square meters. Pets are not welcome in every theme village, so it’s good to look into that. If you bring your pet, there is a dog field, a dog shower and on certain parts of the beach they are also welcome.
As mentioned, there are several themed villages. These listen to the names Punto Blu Premium Village, Maro Premium Village, Mediterranean Garden Premium Village, Marine Premium Village, Marbello Premium Village, Happy Dog Premium Village and Istrian Village. Should you opt for glamping, you will probably be in the themed village of Tarska Vala. All of these villages have a wide range of accommodations. From furnished bungalow tents to mobile homes, from fairly basic to luxurious and of different sizes. The campground, as mentioned, is in the middle of nature, so you are always in the woods. One with nature is one important approach.
The campground has several pool complexes. One of these baths is close to the sea, is large and is filled with seawater. A second is the family aqua park Aquamar. It is located in the middle of the woods and consists of eight pools, with several slides, a pirate ship and it is filled with fresh water. The Maro Premium Village has a children’s pool with water slides and water attractions. The glamping village has a freshwater pool with loungers. So cooling is plentiful and the pools also offer something for everyone. Of course, the beach is just around the corner. This one has the blue flag, which means the sea is safe, the beach clean and here there is also catering facilities for a snack or drink in between.
Of course, there are several restaurants and bars at this huge campground. La Pentola Trattoria Italiana is the Italian. From the terrace here you have an insane view of the sea. Oliva the grill also has a panoramic view, Tuna Bay Grill is an a la carte restaurant with tuna as its specialty. Grano Duro is located on the Piazza and features mostly Italian cuisine. There is also pizzeria Bistrò Kras and several bakeries. The Mezzino Street is a food truck. The five bars can be found at the beach, at the pools or simply somewhere in between. So the drinks and food are never far away.
The campground uses a mascot, the little crab Maro, who eagerly awaits the children. But fortunately, there is an awful lot for every age to enjoy at this campground. Relatively new is an indoor family zone, with a theater and a movie theater. There is a dedicated teen area with a disco, hangout area and game lounge. The youngest children are entertained by an animation team, in the mini club, the kids club or even the teens lounge. A lot takes place at Adria restaurant, including performances and shows. For children, there are several playgrounds scattered throughout the campground. Fifteen minutes away is also a real nightclub where everyone comes. In high season, the campground organizes a little train to this area.
The sporty vacationer can also have a great time here. There really is plenty to do at this campground: there are trampolines, there is miniature golf. There is a climbing wall, you can go horseback riding. Tennis, beach volleyball, cycling, go-karting and table tennis. Prefer water sports? Then you can canoe, surf, sail, water ski, pedal boat, jet ski or rent a motor boat. Or bike to Poreč, about 13 kilometers away.
A focal point at Camping Lanterna is Campsite Piazza. Here you will find a supermarket, several stores and a bakery. This is also where the market opens with vegetables, fruits, fresh fish, swimwear, jewelry and so on. This Piazza is the commercial heart, but there are two more supermarkets in the campground. Just like there are several bakeries. Your breakfast is never far away, which is surely of unprecedented luxury.
Camping Lanterna is a beautiful but huge and also hilly campsite. So from certain places you will have to travel long distances, to get to the sea, the Piazza or the pools. So be sure to secure an accommodation or pitch, where distances are shorter.
This campground has its own jetty.
