Located on a hidden bay on the Adriatic, near the Lim Channel, Camping Porto Sole is located. A family campground, with plenty to do and in beautiful surroundings. Immerse yourself in delightful Istria, where the many green pine trees and the beautiful blue sea will no doubt give you a carefree vacation.
Camping Porto Sole is located between the slightly larger towns of Rovinj and Poreč. The town of Vrsar itself is about a ten-minute walk away, along a sea path. The airports of Trieste (77 kilometers) and Pula (54 kilometers) are close by, by car it is about fifteen hours from the Netherlands. The campground, as mentioned, is located on a bay, after which the area rises at a rapid pace. Some sites are slightly sloped and there are differences in elevation; keep that in mind when making your reservation. Outside the campground, there are plenty of beautiful places to explore.
At Camping Porto Sole you have a whole variety of pitches. Do you prefer to experience the sunset by the sea, or do you prefer a shady spot a little further away? Or at the very back, where the chirping of locusts enhance the vacation feeling? There is something to be said for everything, of course. Do you like to hike through the woods, or would you rather take a dip in the cooling waters very early in the morning?
The same is true of the accommodations scattered here and there throughout the grounds. Do you go for the truly carefree vacation, by taking a fully equipped mobile home on the waterfront? Or do you instead retreat to the woods and drink your wine or beer in the evening with the rustle and crackle of birds in the bushes? So there is something for everyone, not forgetting the beautiful cycling and hiking routes in addition to the attractive sea.
A tip, though, which also applies to the pitches: at Camping Porto Sole the sound goes off at 12 midnight, so for those looking for quiet in the evenings it is wise to look for a spot where the entertainment is far away.
The bay has more than a kilometer of beach, with plenty of shade from tall conifers, place for swimming and sunbathing. The beach consists of pebbles, rocks, concrete and natural supports plateaus, which also makes the beach ideal for children and, if desired, for dogs. There are plenty of showers on the beach and, of course, lounge chairs and umbrellas are rented here. Prefer to avoid the salt water? Porto Sole also has a 313-square-meter pool and a 108-square-meter children’s pool. There is extensive space around the fresh water to add color. As actually in all of Croatia, you have to keep in mind that everything has a price.
There are a few places to eat good food in the campground. First of all, there is Pizzeria Portun. The terrace is right on the sea and the place is ideal for sleepers and breakfast sleepers, as they do not open until noon. The cafeteria offers hot and cold drinks, pastries, sandwiches, ice cream and cocktails. There are also a few bars, including two fresh corners, a pool bar, an aperitif bar. The Freshcorner Plaza has a very wide selection of fast food and (alcoholic) drinks.
You won’t lack anything at this campground. There is a mini-club for children 4 to 11 years old and an evening program for youth. Think theme nights, a mini disco. There are also plenty of fun things organized for adults, including a sightseeing tour of the city, bike tours, nature walks, hobby workshops, sports activities and lots of live music in the evenings. Get away from the campsite by going to Dusan Dzamonja’s sculpture park, or the Aquacolors Water Park. In short, both inside and outside the campground, everyone will find something to get the vacation feeling.
Not to worry: there are plenty of sports and recreation available at this campground. There are ten gravel and two colorset tennis courts, there is a multi-purpose sports ground, where you can play basketball, volleyball, soccer, handball and badminton. Sports equipment is available for rent. There is outdoor fitness, yoga, a diving school, Nordic walking and playgrounds in several places. In the water is a floating water park. Movement thus guaranteed.
Camping Porto Sole has its own supermarket, where basically everything is available. About a five-minute drive away you have a Konzum, which can be compared to the Lidl and is therefore ideal for some larger groceries. In addition, a fresh bakery and a greengrocer can be found on the premises.
Of course, the sea is a huge draw, so go on an excursion. You will see dolphins and have fantastic snorkeling in the crystal clear waters. Slightly touristy, but still fun to visit: the town of Funtana, with its fresh water springs. Funtana is just under five kilometers from the campsite.
