The accommodations are either in the woods, or right on the beach, or have an insane view of the sea with some islands. The choice is entirely up to the vacationer. This family campground focuses on young children, so there is plenty for them to do to have a great vacation.
But really, there is something for everyone. The bay offers an extensive arsenal of water sports that every age group can enjoy. Also, this campground has its own jetty, so you can bring your own boat! With 663 spots, the campsite is big, but you always stay close to the sea and close to nature.

Location and environment

Rovinj is a popular vacation resort, in northern Croatia. From the Netherlands, you will be on the road by car for about fifteen hours. In high season, there are several weekly flights from Rotterdam and Amsterdam to the nearby Pula airport.

A trip to this beautiful historic village itself is definitely worthwhile. Here you will find numerous restaurants and other entertainment venues. Moreover, you can take fun boat trips and other excursions. Rovinj is six kilometers from this campsite. From the bay with its own little harbor, it is fun to rent a dinghy and sail to the village, but there is also a bus service. By car, the Učka National Park and the Italian city of Trieste are also easily accessible, about an hour and a half away.

Pitches

The pitches are all spacious: you have 100 to 140 square meters at your disposal. So there is choice: you can stand here close to the sea or, on the contrary, in the woods. Do keep in mind some advantages and disadvantages. If you are close to the sea, you might get some trouble from the water flowing down when it rains. That water will be well drained, of course, but it is inevitable that puddles will form at the base of the hill. Choosing to be a little higher up the hill avoids that, but results in some more strenuous hiking to your spot. Because most of the campground is on a hill, there is some chance you won’t end up sleeping completely level. An attempt was made to solve this by concrete, which somewhat destroyed the real natural vibe of the campground.

Accommodations

In terms of accommodations, there is also plenty to choose from at Camp Veštar. There is a variety of offerings and location. Close to the sea is the Superior Family; decorated like a fisherman’s cottage. Three bedrooms, over 30 square meters with a spacious terrace. Then you have the Oasis: larger with over 40 square better and over 30 meters of terrace and close to the pools. The Superior View is slightly higher and lets you get up in the morning with a beautiful view of the bay. Behind it you have the Forest and Forest Family houses: right, in the quiet of the woods. The houses can accommodate four to six adults and two children, although of course you can play with that. All houses are equipped with every luxury and with options for cooking, Wi-Fi and private parking. Pets are allowed, for an additional cost.

Swimming

A shallow bay with clear blue water: the sea is constantly calling you at Camp Veštar. The pebble-sand beach is a good place to be; it is not for nothing that this beach may carry the International Blue Flag. This flag means that it is safe here, that the facilities are tiptop, in short: care is taken here. In the sea, near the shore, there is a floating water play park that is ideal for the youth. Of course, umbrellas and deck chairs are available for rent and you can use the showers.

At the campground there are a few swimming pools. There is a 550-square-meter outdoor pool filled with fresh water. For the little ones, there is a children’s pool, next to the main pool. This is 250m2 and is 0.45 meters deep. And the Spray Park is an ideal place to have a good time with water. There is a deep pool to dive into of 100 m2 and depth of 3.4 meters. Around these pools, of course, you can get some food and drinks. By the way, not everything is included with your stay: both the entertainment and the pools will require you to pay a little extra in some cases.

Restaurants

Camping Veštar offers you two restaurants and several bars. First of all, there in the southern section is Pizzeria Kamin. The restaurant is located near the beach and the pizzas, pastas and risottos are all prepared with local ingredients. Restaurant Ulika is located right by the sea and serves just meat and fish; this restaurant gives you a beautiful view of the surrounding islands. The Beach Bar, Blue Bar, Pool Bar and Fresh Corner also offer a variety of drinks and snacks. Looking for something off-site? From hearsay, Grill Fortuna near the campground comes highly recommended.

Animation

At the campground there is much to do for children. The swimming opportunities have already been named, although “racing at sea on a tractor tire” or the banana boat races are still welcome to be mentioned. However, Camping Veštar really concentrates on the youngest children, with a playground and a mini-club. There is also plenty offered in the evening, such as a children’s disco. While you’re in Croatia, you can also brush up on your language skills with Croatian lessons. The evening program includes live music and parties.

Stores

A minor drawback of Camp Veštar is its shopping facilities. In the supermarket there is little choice and it is quite pricey. A bakery also opens its doors in the morning and it also sells really good bread, but it closes those doors as early as noon. The two things are located around the entrance to the campground, which in many cases is also a bit far away. However, supermarkets, bakeries and other types of stores can be found outside the campground. In other words, you do not have to leave the campground, but the presence of the larger chains a short distance from the campground is also not a luxury.

Details and tips

Take a boat ride in the evening and see the sunset. With any luck, you’ll see dolphins jumping out of the water in this orange glow. The campground may have all the amenities, but it’s really all about the bay and the sea beyond, with all its natural beauty.
This campground has its own jetty. Bringing your own boat is allowed.
