At the foot of the mountains of the Massif des Bauges, by Lake Annecy, lies Camping L’Ideal. In the midst of pristine nature yet everything within a half-hour drive at your fingertips. This surprising area never bores: with plenty of water sports on the lake itself, bike rides and walks, there is more than enough to do. The campground itself also offers entertainment and a fine swimming pool. In cooler temperatures, a retractable roof turns this into an indoor pool. With spacious pitches and good accommodations, this campground is probably what you’re looking for in the Annecy area.
Lake Annecy, the Massif des Bauges. Far away from urbanized France, but in the midst of touristy France. And of nature, with many beautiful views and plenty of entertainment in the water and on land. As you walk to the lake, you walk past a melon field; nice too. The village of Annecy is a half-hour drive from this campground, and this town has its own airport. The Geneva International Airport is fifty kilometers away. Annecy is also easily accessible by car from the Netherlands.
Of course, you can visit Camping L’Ideal with your tent, caravan or motorhome. The campground has spacious sites of 80 to 100 square meters and each site is bordered with trees, giving you plenty of shade and privacy. Three sanitary blocks can be found in the campground, which are well maintained.
But the campground also offers some more luxurious accommodations. For example, there are thirteen different mobile homes for rent, meaning that two to eight people can stay here. Their areas range from 16 to 60 square meters. All have a covered terrace with garden furniture and are fully equipped inside. In addition, there are also apartments, also something for everything and one more degree of luxury than the mobile homes. In the morning, look out over the mountain range from your mountain lodge, which is also fully equipped. Thus, you will lack nothing and still find yourself in the middle of nature.
Lake Annecy offers plenty of water sports opportunities, but the park itself also has a real water park with an area of 600 square meters. The pool is open all year round: it has a roof that can be opened and closed. The water is heated at colder temperatures.
The pool has five winding waterslides, including the spectacular Pentagliss, and of course the little ones are welcome there in complete safety. Around the pool, you can relax plenty in the lounge chairs, or in the hot tub. The water park is more than just a water park, there are also spa options. There is a lagoon, waterfalls, a running river and a balneotherapy area. Fine to relax after a tiring day in this fine environment and recharge for the evening program.
The bar-restaurant prepares dishes typical of Savoy, but also serves, for example, pizza and burgers. In the morning you can have a sumptuous breakfast by the pool or on the terrace overlooking the mountains. Prefer to prepare your own food? You can have free use of barbecue, so you and your family or friends can cook pieces of meat completely independently in nature.
The campground offers plenty of entertainment. For the little ones, there is a mini-club and the Camping Kids group, where it is easy to make friends. Here they draw, paint and craft in abundance. Older children can participate in sports tournaments, such as soccer, basketball, volleyball and table tennis. The scavenger hunts and olympiads are also fun. In the evening there is always a mini disco. For adults, there are dance classes and also an evening program. Think: karaoke on a big screen, contests, a lotto, the Miss Camping pageant, poker, board games and a magic show.
Earlier you read about this campground’s spa. The day can also be started actively, with aquagym or in the gym. The children can play table tennis with their friends or play on the playground. The campground has a multi-sports field, a tennis court, a bocce court and a miniature golf course. At the campground you can rent bikes to cycle around the lake.
The campground has a very small store, where you can get the necessities. So the supply here is a bit scarce, but close to the campsite is also a Carrefour Contact, with a good butcher for barbecue.
The area is touristy, Annecy a nice village. If you go a little early on Sunday morning, you’ll have the village all to yourself. There are a few tips about the area: the best view of the lake can be found on the Col de la Forclaz. In Sambuy, you have a chair light to the top. In Bourg Saint Maurice you can get delicious Beaufort cheese and you can take a little train up the mountain. When staying in this area, do keep in mind that it cools down considerably at night here. Therefore, an extra sweater or cardigan is not a luxury.
