Camping Le Ranc Devaine is located in the middle of rustic nature surrounding the beautiful Ardèche River, in southern France. This five-star campground houses a large water park and has plenty of entertainment, but you can easily find peace and quiet. For example, on the Chassezak River, a tributary of the Ardèche. This river meanders in all rest -in contrast to the raging Ardèche-, making a splash is definitely recommended. The area has much natural beauty to offer, as the Ardeche is nestled between mountains and deep gorges. Canoe or kayak and see breathtaking scenes.
A 15-minute drive from the campground and you’re already in a completely different place. The town of Sampzon, at the top of a mountain with great views. Only 200 people live in the village itself, but they enjoy the wide open spaces and special landscape every day. You overlook the Cevenne, the Ardèche Gorges and the Vallon Pont d’Arc basin. Also recommended is the Font Vive water source, in Grospierres. This can be called a natural wonder, with crystal clear water and fascinating flora. The spring is part of an underground network. Or go to the Gorges, which is a collection of natural streams over thirty kilometers. Above all, don’t forget to go canoeing or kayaking here; from the water, this area is at its most beautiful. Actually, there is too much to list. Ruoms is a town surrounded by five rivers. This makes it an exceptional landscape, with limestone cliffs. Or Baluzac, which may be one of the most beautiful villages in France, with a medieval maze, winding alleys, arches, arcades and stairways. A visit to it can rightly be called a must.
At this campground you will find spacious, shaded sites of 90 to 100 square meters. Here you get the ultimate camping feeling, in the midst of natural surroundings. Get up every morning in the beautiful greenery, walk your bare feet through the wet grass and listen to the birds at dawn. Each pitch can accommodate up to six people and has an electrical connection, of 10 amps. Drinking water points are always available nearby. Furthermore, there are four large sanitary blocks, with special areas for babies and special areas for people with disabilities.
The accommodations at Camping Le Ranc Davaine are located in shaded areas and all have two and three bedrooms. For people with limited mobility, there is the Mobile Home PMR, which can accommodate 4 to 6 people. With a wheelchair, you can fully enjoy the park here. Or go for the tent lounge, with a covered terrace. Look especially at which organization offers what: there are wonderful places to stay here in beautiful surroundings. So what is certain: from your dream accommodation you can further explore this fantastic, green area.
There is a 2,500-square-meter pool complex at the campground. In the off-season it is covered and heated, but when the temperatures shoot up again, you can enjoy swimming here outdoors. There is a deep pool where you can swim laps, but of course there is also plenty of fun to play. For example, there is a water playground with fun water games. In terms of design, it is beautiful, with rock formations, level changes, bridges and waterfalls. Slide down the water slides with rapids. This campground also has a wellness center, with spas, Jacuzzis, hamman, showers and private rooms. This center has a professional team, so a scrumptious massage is also a possibility. You have to make a reservation here, but what could be more delicious than this ultimate relaxation? This campground is right on the Chassezak River, with a pebble beach among the trees. Swimming or floating on an air mattress in the middle of this beautiful nature: why not?
In 2023, the swimming pools of Ranc Davaine will be renovated, including 6 new slides in the water park. In addition, a new indoor pool complex with a lagoon pool will be built next to the current pool complex. Waves come through a special “Wave Ball. Also, the spray park will be covered, so you can use it in all weather conditions.
Perhaps the center of this campground is the restaurant, with a great terrace. Here you will eat freshly made pizza, salads or traditional French cuisine. There is a varied menu here, where everyone is sure to find their liking. Breakfast is also offered at the restaurant. An ideal option is half- and full-board. Can you see yourself enjoying a fruit juice, a beer, a cocktail or any other refreshment from this restaurant during the day or at night by the poolside? Campground shows are held here. There are some villages nearby, where there are also restaurants, but they are not very close.
You will find a Kidsclub, for children over the age of five. Here there are games, crafts and plenty of sports and games. The team makes sure there are different groups so there are fun activities for every age. For example, they organize a magic show, a treasure hunt and many other adventures. During the main season, you will see splashy shows near the restaurant, featuring professional performers, magicians, musicians and more. There is plenty for adults to do as well. These are mainly sports activities, such as bocce, fitness, water games and tournaments. By the way, on the other side of the river is a climbing park, where you can also have a lot of fun.
The Ardeche is a wild river, so of course you can make this a very active vacation. Go rafting, canoeing, kayaking; you can book these kinds of activities at the information desk. Still prefer it on dry land? Playing tennis, table tennis, basketball, soccer, volleyball and petanque are all among the options. Or go mountain climbing, or go karting, paintballing, horseback riding. You see: both on and off site, visitors with a true sports heart can have their fun.
There is a supermarket in the campground, with a whole range of products for everyday use. With fresh bread, local produce, pastries, newspapers, postcards, swimwear and water shoes. It is open every day. Washers and dryers are also available, for when you need a day’s worth of laundry.
Beautiful to visit is the Pont d’Arc, a natural rock arch over the Ardèche River. It is located five kilometers from the town of Vallon Pont d’Arc. The Pont d’Arc is a sixty-meter-long bridge that rises fifty-four meters above the water. This is the river’s most famous landmark and an entrance to the Gorges de l’Ardeche: a must-see spot.
