Camping Domaine des Ormes is located in Brittany, France. Built on the grounds of an old, 16th-century castle. There are old buildings everywhere on the grounds, which are obviously being used. It gives extra cachet to this five-star campground. Here you are above the larger town of Rennes, but more interestingly, near the world-famous Mont Saint-Michel, the castle on a small island. The sea is never far away, as are many quaint towns. The campground itself has incredible things to offer. This manifests itself in the overnight accommodations alone. Ever slept in a tree? The campground is famous for its huge swimming pool, full of slides. For its 18-hole golf course. To its underground disco. In short, a great family campsite the north of France.
The campground measures no less than 400 acres and is located in a very wooded area, with the castle as its beautiful centerpiece. A visit to Mont Saint-Michel is an absolute must, but the area certainly has more to offer. Consider Saint-Malo, a caper town with narrow alleys, ancient city walls and an illustrious history that you can see everywhere. Consider Dinard, a medieval town on the Rance River, with ancient city walls, cobbled streets and real half-timbered houses. Dol-de-Bretagne is a medieval town also has old city walls. The cathedral here is really beautiful. Combourg is a charming town with a castle, which has opened its doors since not too long ago. Rennis is the provincial capital and is very worthwhile if you want to store or visit pubs. You are also near the sea. The beaches at Les Ormes are fine, but also check out Saint-Cast-le-Guildo and Cancalse.
Coming to Brittany with your tent, caravan or motorhome? Here you will find spots ranging from 100 to 150 square meters. The formula is clear: just choose where you want to stand. There are three types of pitches. The classic is without electricity or water drainage. Electricity can be included, by the way. The comfort sites do come with electricity and water drainage. The most luxurious also comes with a refrigerator, garden furniture and a barbecue. The more luxurious spots are also a bit closer to the castle, so you can experience that romance every night. Pets are allowed here.
In terms of accommodations, you have quite a bit to choose from at Camping Domaine des Ormes. Whether you take a cottage, a safari tent, a lodge, a mobile home or a residence, you’ll actually be fine everywhere. It’s just what you feel most comfortable with. But there are also more exciting options. What about a tree house? So do you want to sleep at four, at 10 or at 20 meters? Or a floating house on the pond? These spots come without electricity or water and are very eco-friendly. Your breakfast is hoisted to you in the morning. Even more adventurous? Rent a “bubble. There are three, Jupiter, Mars and Venus. This contains only a double bed. Too adventurous? Then just book a room at the three-star hotel, with pool and bar. Anyway, where are you going to spend the night?
The Dôme is a 4,500-square-meter indoor water park, the largest in the region. With lovely heated water and plenty of fun. In addition, the campground has three more outdoor pools, with a water playground and recently a lazy river. So weather or no weather, you can always visit, swim and play here. In total, you can slide down sixteen slides, so in terms of water fun, this place is more than fine. Need to relax for a while? Go to the sauna and bubble in the whirlpool. The campground has a large lake, which is mostly used for sports or carp fishing. Recently, there is a water ski track: you go across the water at top speed on a wakeboard, kneeboard or banana. Particularly spectacular. Around it are very fine grassy lawns. You’re also near the sea, of course, so be sure to seek out the beaches. The beaches of Les Ormes are well worth visiting, as are Saint-Cast-le-Guildo and Cancalse.
In terms of gastronomy, this campground has much to offer, but beware: not all year round. Calendar-round you can visit Club-House, a restaurant located in a former residence of the canons. You have a breathtaking view of the castle from here and it is very cozy. In high season, you also have Chez-Madeleine, with pizza and chicken on the spit. Bar du Moulin is an English pub that features entertainment, performances and the underground disco. At Cabane Rose get ice cream, crepes and waffles while at Le Cellier get Breton galettes and pancakes. So plenty of goodies!
Activities are organized throughout the year at this campground. Hit a ball on the 18-hole golf course, or go water skiing on the lake. For children, there is a large game hall and an exciting adventure park. Bouncy castles, miniature golf: you can always play here. The entertainment team organizes fun activities such as mini-disco, bingo nights, sports tournaments and talent shows. At night there is sometimes karaoke, but definitely always evening shows. Young and old will certainly not be bored here, there is always something et to do.
Sports and recreation run hand in hand with entertainment. The 18-hole golf course has already been mentioned, but you can also do archery or use the climbing wall here. You can also play tennis, soccer, volleyball, table tennis or go for a horse or pony ride. It is recommended to take a walk in the beautiful surroundings, or rent a bicycle. Water sports are offered on the large lake, so be sure to improve your skills here.
In the supermarket you will find everything you need for a worry-free vacation. Fresh produce, fruits and vegetables, frozen and you’re in France: a wine cellar. Hot and fresh croissants and fresh bread are served here every morning. The boutique features souvenirs and local products. Are you here in the high season? Every Tuesday afternoon there is a summer market, where many more fun and delicious items can be picked up.
Although the northern French coast is not necessarily famous for its beaches, it is definitely worth going there. Saint-Malo Bay is the site of Europe’s largest tides, thanks to its location. The tidal range averages more than 12 meters. Gigantic, in other words. This takes place twice a day. The sea is pounding so it is spectacular here. Nice to see!
