Camping Domaine des Naïades is located on the Golfe de Saint-Tropez. Provence, the Mediterranean; a true vacation paradise, so in terms of area, you’re in the right place anyway. It calls itself a four-star open-air hotel, and not unfairly so. Relax in Port-Grimaud, stroll through the artist village of Saint-Tropez or take a dip in the sea or the heated Olympic-size pool, including two water slides and a wading pool. Camping Domaine des Naïades is a place where you can really relax tremendously.
The world-famous village of Saint-Tropez has only 6,000 inhabitants. Since the 1950s, this has been a meeting place for artists as well as rich celebrities, who moor their yachts in the harbor. The beach, four and a half kilometers long, is a great place to be.
In the area you will find a huge variety of beaches. Sensationally, Escalet beach in Ramatuelle is pristine; from here you can take beautiful walks in the area. How about La Nartelle in Saint Maxime, Gigaro or Sylvabelle in La Croix Valmer, Bonporteau in Cavalaire, Cap Tailat and, of course, Pampelonne in Saint-Tropez.
Descending from the campsite to the sea, you will find the town of Port-Grimaud built on stilts. Grimaud itself is one of the oldest villages in the area. A kind of small-Venice. In the area you will also find many wine routes, such as insanely beautiful Gassin, the picturesque medieval village of Ramatuelle and the Plan de la Tour. Of course, cities such as Nice and Monaco are also quite nearby.
Its location makes Camping Domaine des Naïades a great base for getting to know that area. There are free shuttle buses to the beach during the summer months. The campground is located on a hilly area; therefore, the pool can sometimes be far away at this large campground. Also important to know: the roads in the immediate vicinity, including the road to the beach, is a busy one, where, moreover, speeding is common.
The grounds of Camping Domaine des Naïades cover some 15 hectares and are rich in pine trees, eucalyptus and mimosas. The campground regularly renews its selection of mobile homes and accommodations. The Supreme Plus Lounge mobile home was recently added to the offerings. This is the largest and most luxurious mobile home currently available. The mobile home has sleeping space for 8 people, 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. In addition, you have a very large porch including a lounge sofa. And you don’t have to bring your own bedding & towels and final cleaning is done for you. The nice thing about this campground: you are always near the pool and also usually have a beautiful view of the bay. Moreover, you will enjoy plenty of privacy here, as the accommodations are widely spaced apart. Almost every accommodation has its own barbecue on its terrace.
Of course, the sea is actually around the corner, but the campsite itself also has a huge swimming pool. A basin 50 meters long and 15 meters wide, with a depth between 1.20 and 3.90. The pool is open year-round and is heated when the weather is less clement. Next to it is a wading pool with play equipment. So the little ones can play there excellently, and the slightly bigger children can in turn go down the slide that is as high as 75 meters. Of course, there are deck chairs you can use, to enjoy the sunshine. One drawback, however, is that there are no other catering facilities in the immediate vicinity of the pool.
In summer, the campground organizes aqua gym classes. Please note that there are dress codes for this pool.
The restaurant at this campground seats 140 guests and is of a fine standard. In terms of lunch, there is a different daily dish every day. In the evening, it is á la carte and various menus. Of course, dishes are also available for takeout. As usual, the restaurant is slightly on the pricey side. The villages themselves also have restaurants. The bar itself is open every day from 8:30 a.m. to midnight. The campsite has not only a restaurant, but also a snack bar, where burgers, pancakes, sandwiches, pizza, cold drinks and ice cream are available.
Domaine des Naïades offers plenty of (sports) entertainment during the summer months, such as jogging along the Gulf of Saint-Tropez, muscle exercises and an aquagym class. Ope camping itself you will find the Point Animation Center a multi-sports court, ping pong tables, a lighted bocce court and a petting zoo. The animators for children are there only in July and August. Then educational games are offered, full of discoveries in nature. You’ll solve riddles, get to do lots of crafts and there are plenty of sports here too: soccer, sack races, basketball and you can participate in a treasure hunt.
In the evenings there is plenty of entertainment, in the form of karaoke, an open-air cinema, a dance night and a cabaret show. Note: very occasionally there is Dutch-speaking animation, but the animation is predominantly French-speaking.
There is plenty of room for sports and recreation on and right outside the campground. Go to the sea for water sports, diving, snorkeling or whatever. You can also go karting, tubing, bowling, paintball, tennis, there is a theme park nearby, you can play miniature golf and golf, you can ride horses, you can fish. For Aqualand, you can buy tickets directly at the reception desk.
The campground has a large and modern camp store at the entrance to the campground, with plenty of fresh food items, beach supplies, postcards and laundry products. This little supermarket is open all year round. But, of course, you don’t have to limit yourself to the supermarket here. In Saint Maxime there is a Lidl.
But even more fun: consider those typical markets in Provence. On almost every square in almost every village there is always a market going on, where you can get fish, cheese, meat and vegetables. But not just food goods, also flowers and plants, clothes, jewelry: these are the kind of markets where you can get everything. More information is available at reception, but the Jas des Roberts in Grimaud on Sunday mornings is highly recommended right away. Rent a bike at the campground and get to know the area. That’s highly recommended anyway, because before you know it, you’ll be in a traffic jam.
