Camping Les Prairies de la Mer is perhaps one of the most beautiful campsites on the Côte d’Azur. This five-star campground is truly equipped with all amenities and is also just steps away from beautiful spots, such as Port-Grimaud, the Venice of France. Vacation homes, lodges and bungalows are increasingly taking over camping spots, which only increases the feeling of luxury. Luxury is the right word at Camping Les Prairies de la Mer: immerse yourself near Saint-Tropez in another world, right on the Mediterranean.
This is the French Riviera, with plenty of beautiful seaside resorts, cities with art and history and its fantastic location on the Mediterranean Sea. Here the sun always shines, here you will always find blue skies. And what lies nearby is even more appetizing. Think of Saint-Tropez, which after all is known as the city of the rich. Think Bormes-les-Mimosas, Grasse, a boat trip on the canals. Or to Grimaud, with its museum of art and folk traditions, its Castle and Saint-Michel Church. Grimaud can be reached in 50 minutes by the tourist train Le Petit Train, from the campsite. Of course, Monaco, Nice and all those other fine cities of the Var are nearby. But really just a stone’s throw away, then, is Port Grimaud. This is often compared to Venice, with its canals and many waters.
Unfortunately, the camping section is slowly decreasing at this campground. There are still spots, but cottages are increasingly taking over, and camping spots are expected to disappear altogether soon. This is not necessarily a deterrent; the location, the surroundings are beautiful. From your little tent or caravan, you are right at the pool or beach. But preparation is therefore important; it will not be surprising if there comes a time when there are no more camping spots to be found at this campground.
You can still camp here, albeit in premium mobile homes, all equipped with air conditioning, a dishwasher and a large, shaded terrace. Polynesian-style caravans are located in close proximity to the beach and others closer to the pool. The campground is largely car-free; there is a lot of attention to greenery and plenty of rest. The idea of the style is that outside already starts inside, through the use of natural materials. At 30 acres, the park can be called large, but the abundance of greenery doesn’t always make it feel that way. From the campsite you have a beautiful view of the bay and Saint-Tropez.
Since 2018, the campground has a new water park and you can see that a lot of attention has been paid to it. The park measures some 1,500 square meters, has two heated pools, a water playground, a relaxation area and the Keilani Spa, with hammam, sauna and Jacuzzi. The water park is the focal point of the campground and here both youngsters and adults will definitely have a good time. Of course, you can also go to one of the four beaches in the campground. The restaurants on the beaches are of a very good standard and from the beach you can not only swim, but also do all kinds of water sports.
Camping Les Prairies de la Mer has no fewer than seven bars and restaurants, four of which are located directly on the beach. So you have Le Petit Bain, the panoramic lounge bar where you can get delicious, fruity cocktails. Canopy, which means canopy, is a little paradise where you can almost touch the treetops. This provides not only a beautiful view, but also an oasis of tranquility. Le Sun is right on the beach and provides culinary delights. Tangerine is located on the private beach. At Les Pieds Dans l’Eau you have a great lunch, with a perfectly appointed terrace. At Long Bar you can enjoy drinks and tapas. This one is on the main square, has happy hour every night and here is live music every weekend. Finally, Pic Nic serves fast food as well as takeout. In short, you have every choice every part of the day, according to your mood. What is certain is that whatever choice you make, you will be pampered.
Camping Les Prairies de la Mer has three children’s and teen clubs, with sports competitions and activities throughout the day. Animation is in French, German and English and focuses mainly on the high season. There are live concerts and performances at Long Bar and they are always spectacular and worth seeing. Among the sports events, think especially of soccer, beach volleyball, tennis, petanque, hand archery and salsa courses. The latter two come together with a workshop. So ideal to learn a whole new sport for a change. In low season, the animation team organizes excursions, to a “secret” place in the area.
You certainly don’t have to sit still here. You’re right on the beach, so let’s start with the many water sports you can do here. Sailing, windsurfing, water skiing, diving, fishing, canoeing and pedal boating are all among the options. Furthermore, you can certainly test your fitness and your muscles with all kinds of sports, as already mentioned under the heading “entertainment. Also be sure to explore the surrounding area, either on foot or by bike.
A bakery serves a delicious breakfast every day, but the campsite also has a spacious supermarket where you can buy all kinds of things. So that way you can not only have a nice breakfast, but also buy some goodies for the pool or beach, for example. There is also a larger supermarket about two kilometers away, so for the really big groceries you can go there.
Be sure to visit the communes of Fréjus and Saint-Raphaël. This is the cultural center of the Var. Fréjus has been around for over 2,000 years, which can be seen in the Forum Lulii Theater, located near the Gate of Rome. The Villa Aurélienne is a Neopalladian-style residence. Cultural events were held here in ancient times. Also fun in this area is to go along the mangroves. Here you will find 45 kilometers of hiking trails and one hundred kilometers of mountain bike circuits.
