Camping Le Serignan Plage

Camping Le Serignan Plage pool and slides

Camping Le Sérignan Plage is a large 5-star family campground near the village of Sérignan. Located in the middle of the dunes, directly on the Mediterranean Sea, it is a real camping village. Besides the wonderful beach, this top campsite has perhaps the coolest water park in (southern) France. What fantastic slides, water playground and a wonderful pool you will find here! The children will not want to leave here. And parents can enjoy peace and quiet at the Balneo Pool and Spa.

Besides the fantastic water park at Le Sérignan Plage campsite, there is much more to experience here. There is an extensive entertainment program, many sports facilities, fun playground(s) and a cozy center with all kinds of stores, playgrounds and terraces. Thanks to all these amenities, you don’t have to leave the campground. The kids won’t mind either!

Because Le Sérignan Plage campground is a true camping village, the distances match it. Besides the fact that the campground is just really big, there is also a piece of nature reserve in the campground that you always have to go around if you stay on that side of the nature reserve. So keep in mind that you will have to bring your own (children’s) bikes, a scooter or wagon, or you will have to walk a lot. You can also rent bikes and wagons at the campground. The campground’s own accommodations include two rental bikes with the premium variants. Because of all those bikes and stops, there is a lot of traffic on the road. This did make us feel unsettled; you really had to watch where you walked and when crossing, even in the “center” of the campground.

Roan and Eurocamp offer several rental accommodations at Le Sérignan Plage campsite. In addition, you also have a choice of different types of (spacious) camping spots, whether against the dunes or not. Read on quickly for all the details.

Location and environment

Camping Le Sérignan Plage is located in the Hérault department of the Languedoc-Rousillon region, directly on the Mediterranean Sea. Despite its size, you can easily find your peace and quiet here as well. The nature reserve at the campground itself also contributes to this. And, of course, the wide sandy beach, which you can walk right to.

As mentioned earlier, you don’t have to leave the campground, because everything you need can be found there. But do you want to get out and see amazing nature? It’s a bit of a drive, but visit the Rhône Delta. This is in the Camargue marshland and here are many attractions, including lakes, meadows, marshes, rivers, beaches and historic towns. In the wild you can see flamingos, bulls and horses here. A lot closer is Sète, on Lake Thau. This town is characterized by its many canals and is a beautiful seaside resort with an authentic fishing port. Béziers is a very lively city, full of festivals, parties and lots of shopping. The city has nine locks; boats must overcome a height difference of as much as 21.5 meters. The city is one of the region’s most visited attractions. This Canal du Midi dates from the seventeenth century and is on the UNESCO list. The canal connects the city of Toulouse to the Mediterranean Sea. Carcassonne, the city with 52 towers, is also worth a visit. This city is also on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Swimming

WOW! That’s what our children and we ourselves said when we saw water park Lagoon at Le Sérignan Plage campsite. What a great big water park this is where all ages are going to have a tremendous time. It is not the showpiece of the campground for nothing. The water park is divided into three parts: the water slides on the right, in the middle the lagoon (the swimming pool) and on the left the huge water playground.

The water slides are really fantastic and we are sure that your (slightly older) children, and yourself, will not want to leave here. Choose the mega fast slides for thrills and spills, go down the family slide as a group, experience a real disco (and fast!) slide or go down the slide in a big rubber band for two in a big rubber band: the choice is huge. And we guarantee you’ll keep going! The slides are officially for anyone over 1.20 meters, but this is not checked. Even smaller children, whether accompanied by an adult or not, can enjoy sliding down the slides.

In the middle of the water park you have the pool, or lagoon. This delightful pool is a kind of island with four pools and two bridges. The whole family can play in the water here: there is a paddling pool, a pool that slowly deepens and a deeper pool. There are also a few small slides, which at first glance look a bit simple, but secretly go quite fast! Around the lagoon you have a large sunbathing area with real grass, plenty of sunbeds and olive, pine and eucalyptus trees that provide shade. The sunbathing area is very nice, but the downside of real grass is still that it can get muddy. A fence surrounds the pool, and access gates (including an automatic shower) allow you to get to the water. Again, well thought out and very safe. The doors are equipped with a child lock which sometimes proves difficult for parents as well.

Through the left side of the swimming park, you walk to the giant water playground, which is suitable for children from 1 to 8 years old, although slightly older children will also still find it very fun. The kids will absolutely love this cheerful water playground and they won’t know where to start! There are several play boats with slides, water spouts, fountains, climbing towers and even a belly slide. Of course, there is also a giant tipping bucket. Again, there are plenty of slides to choose from, with some being challenging even for younger children. The surface of the entire water playground is nice soft tarp. Around the water playground, in addition, there are again plenty of sun beds so you can keep a close eye on your child(ren).

Because all the slides are together, it is very safe, because the smaller children do not just walk here; the water playground is on the other side of the water park. Because this is completely apart, you might also see this as a disadvantage, because a choice will have to be made about where to go. And because the water park is so large, there is no overall view.

Lifeguards are present everywhere, keeping an eye on safety and, for example, in the water playground to ensure that it remains safe for little children as well. In July and August, you must show a pass to enter. Upon arrival, you will receive a document that you must show the first time at the entrance to the pool. There, a pass will be made for you, including a photo. And that’s your entrance ticket to the water park for the rest of the vacation. You won’t get in without a pass, so don’t forget it or you’ll have to go all the way back to your accommodation!

And if you’re hungry or thirsty, head to snack bar Kabanon by the pool. You can buy ice cream, pizza & sandwiches and delicious snacks like donuts and cakes. There are also various drinks for sale and slush. On the spacious terrace you will enjoy your order, because at the pool you are not allowed to bring food and drinks.

Ball games and umbrellas are also prohibited, and for the boys & men, they are allowed in the water only if they wear tight swim trunks.

What is also wonderful about camping Le Sérignan Plage is the direct access to the wide sandy beach of the Mediterranean. The water slopes gradually, allowing small children to have fun. In July and August, lifeguards are present. There are several places where you get access to the beach and through a beautiful path you walk right onto the warm sand. At the beach tent there is a take-out counter where, in July and August, you can buy a snack or a drink. In addition, this is the place to rent a SUP or canoe for a trip out to sea.

Besides the Lagoon water park and the beach, there are other pools at Le Sérignan Plage campsite. If you are vacationing with your baby or toddler (up to 3 years old), be sure to visit the indoor, heated, pool in the Patio. Around this pool is the terrace of the bar. This pool is meant to really swim together with your child, as it is 1.50 deep. This pool is additionally used for aqua gym.

And then finally, there is the Balneo Spa. In fact, at Le Sérignan Plage campsite, there is also thought of relaxation, in this case for everyone aged 16 and over. The Spa has a Greek/Roman theme that is well executed in this oasis of tranquility. You’ll find whirlpool baths, hydromassage jets, a so-called massage course and a 25-meter pool where you swim your laps with music all around you, even underwater! For complete relaxation, book one of several massages. If you like nude swimming, you can do so in the morning. In the afternoon, the Balneo is open to anyone wearing swimwear. Admission is free for campground guests, but you will need an admission pass. You will be given these at check-in.

Restaurants

Camping Le Sérignan Plage has plenty of places to eat and drink. Whether you are looking for a snack, ice cream or a drink, there is plenty to choose from. By the pool you will find snack bar Le Kabanon, where you can buy tasty (scoop) ice creams and snacks such as sandwiches, burgers, tacos but sweets. In addition, you can have a cup of coffee or a slush. If you are not at the pool but want to buy something here, there is a take-out counter on the outside of Le Kabanon. In the center of Le Sérignan Plage campsite sits the beating heart of the campsite, the Patio. Besides the shopping areas, you’ll also find a snack bar for takeout such as pizza, lasagnes, chicken and fries. If you feel like some treats, there is a counter where you can buy crepes, ice creams, waffles and cotton candy.

The Patio’s restaurant, Lou Pas d’Oc, has a cozy terrace where you can order tasty dishes such as grilled shrimp, grilled sea bass, steak or choose the dish of the day. Of course, they also have delicious desserts and dishes for the kids. Furthermore, the Patio is also home to bar De Cour des Troubadours, where you can enjoy a cozy indoor or outdoor seating. If you sit inside, you look out on the baby pool. Inside are also TV screens if you want to watch a sports game, for example.
At the large stage, animation performances and mini disco take place. There is a very large terrace and a bar where you can buy the most delicious drinks. Think soft drinks, (special) beers, wines and cocktails. You can also eat your food here that you got at the snack bar.

Settle down at La Villa restaurant, and you’ll overlook the Balneo Spa. This quiet and somewhat upscale restaurant has a large terrace, but there are plenty of seating options inside as well. Dishes include escargots, salads, tuna steak, tartare and some vegetarian dishes. It’s a pretty specific menu with dishes you have to love, besides we didn’t think it was cheap either. Outside La Villa, sits another takeout counter for pizza and you’ll find the Oyster Bar, open between 5:30 and 7 p.m. There is also a separate lounge area & bar next to the restaurant, however, we did not see it.

This clubhouse also has a very large garden, but is a bit hidden behind the water park. (It is also quite a bit of a walk if you are staying on the other side of the nature reserve). What’s nice: there is Dutch-speaking animation at the Yelloh! Kids Club.
Children ages 10 to 13 can attend the Yelloh! Juniors who also have their own space. The animation team organizes fun sports competitions, (beach) games, scavenger hunts and they can participate in the children’s show. They can also, for a fee, take a ride on a banana boat.

So you can also register your child for the activities before you get there at all.

If you want to be active and keep playing sports during your vacation, this is no problem at Le Sérignan Plage campsite. There is a full sports program throughout the day and we are sure your own sport will be among them. Because there are so many different sports on the program such as pilates, zumba, aquagym, tennis, bodypump, bodycombat, aqua boxing, basketball, cross training and much more. Can you have another extra ice cream!

Three or four times a week the mini disco starts at 6:30/19 p.m. where your child can have a great time, including to Dutch songs! A show will take place later in the evening. This could be a theme dance night, a concert, musical or magic show. There are also special children’s performances. At 11 p.m., the disco starts and lasts until 1:30 a.m. If you are staying close to the Patio/Stage, it may cause a nuisance.

Sports & Recreation

As already indicated, camping Le Sérignan Plage has put together a very extensive sports program for you. If you prefer to explore and be active yourself, there are also lots of options. For example, you can play soccer and basketball on the multi-sport court; there are two such courts next to each other. Around it is an athletic track where you can run. This place often hosts sports tournaments. There are also two tennis courts that you can use for free (note: you must reserve them at the Info Point, where you can also borrow rackets). There are table tennis tables, a beach volleyball court, bocce courts and a fitness trail. For fans of BMX biking, camping Le Sérignan Plage is perfect, as there is a large BMX track available. At the beach club, you can rent SUPs and canoes for a trip on the water.

There are also several playgrounds at the campground, the largest of which is next to the Lagoon water park. This is a large pirate boat with climbing apparatus and slides. Most playgrounds are made of wood and look beautiful. There is also a special Toddler House for the smallest guests at the campground. This house is specially decorated so they can play there safely.

In the center of the campground, near the Patio, there is a carousel and trampolines (for a fee) are available. Also here is the game hall with pinball machines, a foosball table, pool table and air field hockey. Kids will also find the grab-and-go machines interesting.

As mentioned earlier, camping Le Sérignan Plage and a bicycle is not a luxury. Bring your own or rent one from the Bike Barn. Can you also immediately discover the area outside the campsite!

Details and tips

As soon as you arrive, you experience that you are staying in the dunes; the entire campground exudes a beach feel thanks to the wooden posts and plantings. The campground is beautifully landscaped and equipped with (tropical plantings) anyway. The welcome at camping Le Sérignan Plage was very welcoming. In the very modern and cozy reception, they really take the time for you. If you succeed, you will even be helped by a Dutch-speaking employee. There will be an envelope for you with Map, details of your accommodation, information booklet, wristbands and a pass for the Balneo Spa.

If you like to keep a lasting memory of camping Le Sérignan Plage, book a photo shoot. The photographer sits next to the pool and can take beautiful (family) photos on the beach or at the campsite itself. The photo shoot itself is free, you only pay for the photos you want printed.

Where the photographer is located, you can also rent boxcars. Easy if you have small children or to take all your stuff to the beach.

Camping Le Sérignan Plage is part of Yelloh! Village and has its own Yelloh! Village App. Install the app before you leave and sign up your kids for entertainment activities, find out all about the campground, weather forecast and sights around the campground.

Electric cars can be charged at the charging stations located next to the reception.

One car is allowed per camping spot. A code allows you to enter and exit the grounds. With us, that code did not work properly, which caused annoyance. If you have more cars, park them in the parking lot in front of the entrance.
