Location and environment

“A little north of Paris,” then Disneyland (an hour and a half away) and Astérix Park (an hour away) are obvious places to visit. From the campground, vans drive there, which makes things easier. But there is so much more to see here. Consider the castle of L’Aisne, or the many natural sites in the area. A nice walk through the Villers-Cotterêts forest or the Compiègne forest, or stroll through small towns like Compiègne with local architecture of Picardy. Paris is about an hour and a half away by car, so a visit to the Louvre or the Eiffel Tower is also a very attractive option. Do you seek out the crowds, or stay in the rustic surroundings of the campground?

Pitches

Camping La Croix du Vieux Pont could easily be called a vacation park; camping sites are clearly outnumbered here. You have mostly semi-shaded sites here, and those sites, if you need it, have electricity. The plumbing is somewhat old, as the entire campground is somewhat outdated and actually in need of refurbishment. The emphasis is really on accommodations and not on caravans and/or tents. In principle, no big deal; a patch of lawn is often enough anyway.

Accommodations

Go as a couple, or go with a group of ten: there are always places to have an ideal vacation. There is even an opportunity to stay in a treehouse above the river.

Swimming

We are in northern France, so sunny weather cannot be guaranteed here. So this campground has a large heated water park, most of which is covered with a roof that can move. You will find slides, a huge splash pool, there is a relaxation area with a Jacuzzi. The outdoor pool has a running river with a current and waterfalls here and there. Every age group will have a great time in this pool. The campground also has two lagoons. One is small, round and shallow and is ideal for little ones to build a sandcastle on the beach, as it is surrounded by beach. The other is a bit larger and here, for example, you can fish. On these waters you will find beaches with fine sand, providing the real beach feeling. Add to that the beach volleyball area and you still feel like you’re in a somewhat southern campground. The pool has opening hours for almost all of its attractions. Thus, the slides do not open until the afternoon.

Animation

There is no real entertainment at Camping La Croix du Vieux Pont, but there is a lot to do. Take your inflatable boat out on the lagoon, or slide down the cable car. Ride a pony at the pony club or race at the children’s go-kart track. Get pampered in the beauty salon. Mind you, almost everything costs money here. These are not shockingly high amounts, but it is good to know that you can by no means use everything without obligation. For example, not only does renting bikes cost money, but so does using the trampoline or climbing wall. And, as mentioned, opening hours are also used. In high season there are disco nights, karaoke and live music at the campsite.
