At Camping Le Capanne you will enjoy the real Tuscan life. The campsite is in the middle of Tuscany, with famous cities like Pisa, Siena and Lucca nearby as well as the beautiful sandy beach of Marina di Bibbona. Camping Le Capanne is surrounded by pine, olive and eucalyptus trees, providing plenty of shade for the camping pitches and rental accommodations.
The water park is great at Camping Le Capanne, thanks in part to the new addition of the Freddy Water Castle. This ultimate children’s playground has lots of water games and as many as 8 slides. The other pools are also great for relaxing in, as are the green lawns surrounding them.
The campground is not very big (324 spots) but it feels like you have entered a small village. This is due in part to Piazza Grande, the central square. Here the weekly market takes place, you will find the restaurant, bar and ice cream parlor and in the evening you will enjoy great shows. The supermarket is also located in the square.
Camping Le Capanne is a child-friendly campsite, making it ideal for families with (young) children. The campground is car-free and there is super much to do. The mascot, Freddy the penguin, is well incorporated throughout the campground. The children receive a Freddy passport upon arrival, allowing them to keep track of exactly what activities they have participated in. You can even rent Freddy mobile homes! Thanks to the large proportion of Dutch people, the children will also have made friends quickly. Camping Le Capanne is very pet-friendly, so your dog is very welcome.

The location of Camping Le Capanne is stunning. A short distance away is the well-known town of Bolgheri. Not only the town itself, known for its wines and culinary delights, but also the road to it is great because you drive past the long rows of cypress trees.
Other famous cities you won’t want to miss during your vacation in Tuscany are Lucca, Pisa and Volterra. If you are in Tuscany in early July or mid-August, be sure to visit Siena during the famous Palio (horse race). This local holiday is great to experience. Besides the famous cities, there are plenty of quaint little Italian villages to visit from the campground.
If you are looking for a vacation in Tuscany by the sea, Camping Le Capanne is also a good place, as the beach of Marina di Bibbona is less than 3 kilometers away. From the campground, you can take the free shuttle bus that will take you there.
There are still plenty of camping spots available at Camping Le Capanne, about half the number of spots in the campground. The sites are all very spacious (between 90 and 120m2) and are always surrounded by greenery. All pitches have electricity (6 or 10 amps) and some even have private plumbing. We will describe the five different camping spots below:
There are several bathroom facilities in the campground. These are also suitable for the disabled, there are children’s sanitary facilities and a baby room with changing pad. However, opinions are a bit divided on the cleanliness of the plumbing. The toilet block close to the pool is often less clean because all the pool users also use these toilets.
Furthermore, there are washing machines and dryers scattered throughout the campground.
Special dog showers are available for dogs.

Roan also offers some of their beautiful mobile homes at Camping Le Capanne. Like the luxurious Premium Plus Lounge mobile home, equipped with air conditioning, dishwasher, 3 bedrooms and a large veranda with lounge sofa. Final cleaning is also included here.
The Comfort Plus Lounge is also a nice accommodation with a spacious veranda with lounge area and three bedrooms. The Comfort Relax mobile home has 2 bedrooms and a lounge sofa on the veranda.
Furthermore, you have the Premium mobile home, Eurocamp’s luxury mobile home of 34m2 in size. With three bedrooms, it can sleep 6 people. There is a large covered terrace with another sun area equipped with a sofa. This modern mobile home is very popular.
The Comfort XL mobile home, also from Eurocamp, is practically equipped with 2 bedrooms and can accommodate 4-6 people. There is a covered wooden porch.
There is also the Capraia mobile home of 32 m2, suitable for 6 people. There are three bedrooms and the wooden porch is covered. The Casale mobile home is also 32 m2, but has 2 bedrooms. Up to 5 people can stay overnight and you can also bring your dog to this mobile home. The wooden porch is completely covered. The Magona mobile home is almost the same as the Casale mobile home, except that no pets are welcome.
Then there are the Freddy mobile homes, themed around the mascot Freddy. The Freddy XL is 40m2, can accommodate 6 people, has 2x double beds, 2 single beds, a playstation, a speaker for music, 2 bathrooms and a spacious terrace with jacuzzi.
The Freddy Family mobile home is centrally located, is 32m2 in size, has a 34m2 terrace, can accommodate 6 people and cute Freddy the mascot details throughout. The terrace has garden furniture as well as a hanging chair.
The Lodgetent Holiday by Roan is perfect for a fine glamping vacation. This tent has 3 sleeping cabins that can sleep up to 6 people. There is a large, covered, wooden porch with lounge bench and equipped with a gate. They are cozy in a street and you can quickly connect with your neighbors, if you want.
Eurocamp offers the Bungalow Tent at Camping Le Capanne. This tent has two sleeping cabins where up to 5 people can sleep. A simple kitchenette, refrigerator with separate freezer compartment and garden furniture are provided.
The Tenda Tombolo is a true glamping tent with a wooden floor and equipped with many comforts. This glamping tent is 34m2 and has another 12m2 veranda. There are two bedrooms, suitable for 5 people and with closet space. The kitchenette has a large refrigerator with separate freezer compartment, a gas stove and a sink. There is garden furniture, two reclining chairs and a hammock. You may bring your dog to this tent.
Camping Le Capanne has a great pool and in addition there is the new Freddy Water Castle. The pool is divided into several sections and different depths. There is a smaller pool for children, a larger and deeper pool for adults and there is another separate paddling pool with fun play equipment including a slide. The large pool also has a separate slide and in the hot tub you can relax for a while. But you can also do so at the Pool Bar, which is literally in the water. Here you order a nice cup of coffee, smoothie, sandwich or ice cream.
However, the newest addition completes the water park at Camping Le Capanne: the Freddy Water Castle is truly fantastic! This new lagoon pool of 1800m2 and up to 40 cm deep, consists of a huge castle no less than 14 meters high. The castle features numerous water games and 8 slides. In the evening, the castle is beautifully lit and, thanks to virtual effects, the castle is brought to life. We bet your kids won’t want to leave here!
The water park is very spacious so you are not lying super close to your neighbor on one of the fine sunbeds. There is artificial grass everywhere which is nice and it stays nice and clean. Only drawback is that it does get hot from the sun. Parasols are provided, but keep in mind that there are few shaded areas around the pool. What is unfortunate is that there is no toilet block at the water park. You have to go to the nearest bathroom building outside the water park for this.
Besides Camping Le Capanne’s amazing water park, you can also go to the beach in Marina di Bibbona. This beach is about 2.5 km from the campsite. From mid-June to the first week of September, a free shuttle bus runs to the beach. You can get off at two places: at Pineta, where you can walk to the free dog beach, and at the beach of Forte di Marina di Bibbona, where you will also find a beach bar for a nice lunch or cool drink. If you prefer to lay your towel on a beach bed rather than on the coarse sandy beach, there is the option of renting a beach bed and umbrella.
Restaurant Corte dei Glicini is open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner. For breakfast, you can choose from a sweet or savory breakfast. For lunch and dinner you can choose from delicious Italian and European dishes, but there are also typical Tuscan specialties on the menu. And of course: pizza! The food in the restaurant is delicious and affordable. There is a separate Freddy menu for the kids; there are even baby dishes! And if you really want an easy vacation, book half board or full board: all you have to do then is reserve your table.
At the bar, order tasty drinks, including good coffee, juice or a specialty beer on tap. Of course, there is also a wide choice of (Italian) wines.
At the ice cream parlor, order a delicious Italian ice cream.
Camping Le Capanne has a fun entertainment program available for all ages. The animation team is super enthusiastic and makes sure you have a fun vacation.
The Mini Club is for children between the ages of 4 and 8. Here they will do fun creative games such as dressing up, face painting, water games and much more. In the evening, they can go wild at the Mini Disco. The Junior Club is for children between the ages of 9 and 12. Fun games and workshops are organized for them. This kids club meets in Freddy Land, where you will also find the House of Pinocchio and the Baby Room, especially for children from 0 to 4 years old.
Teens between the ages of 13 and 17 can join the Teen Club and participate in sports tournaments, foosball, table tennis or a game of cards. Theme nights are also organized for them.
In the Wonder Garden, children can learn how herbs, vegetables and other plants are planted and how they grow. You can take a tour there with the gardener.
But not only for the youth is there anything organized. Adults can also participate in various sports tournaments, such as beach volleyball, water polo and basketball. Furthermore, fitness classes are available, aquagym is organized and you can join a Fit Your Fun class: this is a dance/aerobics/workout class. There are also spinning classes and you can join a yoga class.
At night, shows are organized on the large stage. This is highly recommended as the shows are of high quality.
At Camping Le Capanne, you don’t have to sit still. There is all kinds of things to experience and do. For example, there is a fun playground near the Piazza Grande with slides, swings, tunnels and mini climbing walls.
Get sporty thanks to the sports fields, play soccer or tennis. The fun Adventure Golf course, a miniature golf course, challenges the whole family. This beautiful course, laid out in greenery with even a mini Tower of Pisa, is highly recommended.
In the Lego room, children can express their creativity by building the most beautiful Lego works of art, and in the game room, computer games can be played. The children’s cinema shows fun animated and cartoon films.
The play corner is there for little ones, from 0 to 4 years old. Here they can play and enjoy games together with parents or members of the animation team.
Adults can practice their golf skills on the driving range. There is also an on-site rental service where you can rent bicycles, mountain bikes, e-bikes, scooters and cars.
In the mini-market you can buy delicious fresh bread rolls, as well as Tuscan products such as cold cuts, cheeses and wines. You tap the wine yourself! Also on sale are basic groceries, magazines, souvenirs and water toys.
There is also a weekly market at the campsite with the best and tastiest products.
Camping Le Capanne is very dog-friendly. There is a separate field for dogs with a dog track and there is a dog shower. You may also bring your dog on the shuttle bus.
It is environmentally friendly camping: for example, they use solar panels for energy and there are charging stations for your electric car.
Upon arrival, children will receive a Freddyland Passport. In it, all the activities they have participated in are stamped and they can keep good track of what activities they have done.
