Location and environment

Just a half-day drive from the Netherlands, you will imagine yourself in a completely different world. Luxembourg is a small country, but is super diverse. Nature is stunning with rolling hills and rugged, mountainous terrain. From the campground you can enjoy great views daily. Right behind the campsite starts one of Luxembourg’s most beautiful and famous hike in the Nommerlayen forest, an offshoot of the Little Switzerland area. In addition, there are so many more hikes and bike rides to explore, including the rocks of Nommern. These rock formations are made of sandstone and have steep walls and caves.

Also visit Mersch and Larochette, with a medieval castle built on a rock. Luxembourg’s oldest city, Echternach, is also worth a visit. If you want to go to the city of Luxembourg, take the train for the nicest way to get into the city.

The Belgian Ardennes are a short distance from the campsite. Like the German Valley of the Moselle, for a cruise on the Moselle. During your vacation at Europacamping Nommerlayen, even a visit to northern France is possible.

Pitches

With over 400 pitches, this is still a real camping site where you can go with your own camping equipment. Almost all pitches are between 90 and 120m2 and have their own water tap, drainage and electricity connection. You book this camping spot through ANWB.

Because Europacamping Nommerlayen is a true family campground, they have also arranged the campground so that families with children in a certain age group can camp together during the high season. For example, there are some pitches reserved for families with children ages 0-6, where the streets are grassy and dead-end. There are also spots for families with children between 6-12 and spots for families with teenagers and older.

Accommodations

Although the vast majority of the campground consists of pitches, Europacamping Nommerlayen also offers rental accommodations. The offer includes mobile homes, cottages, chalets and luxury tents.

So you can rent a beautiful Lodgetent of 35m2, with 3 sleeping cabins equipped with comfortable beds, suitable for 5 people. In addition, the tent is equipped with complete basic furnishings, including a refrigerator and outdoor furniture.

The Lodge de Luxe has the same benefits as the Lodgetent, but has the added bonus of box-spring beds in the tent, one of which is a double box-spring bed in the master bedroom. There is also a lounge set and additional closet space.

You can also rent a Safari tent at Europacamping Nommerlayen. This spacious 50m2 safari tent has 3 sleeping cabins and can accommodate 6 people. There is a double box-spring bed in the master bedroom and the other two sleeping cabins have bunk beds. The kitchen has running water and a fridge-freezer, and there is a luxurious lounge set under the generous awning. In this spacious tent you have the luxury of home but at a top campsite.

Swimming

Water lovers will have a great time at Camping Nommerlayen! There is a large swimming pool that can also be covered when the weather is not so good, so you can still have a nice swim. Here is also a small slide. In nice weather, the roof is open and you can also visit the second pool. Here is also a water acceleration channel and playground equipment for even more water fun. Since 2020, the campground also has a super fun water playground with a small water castle, where little ones can play with water. This water playground is on the terrace, where parents can keep an eye on their children while enjoying a drink or snack. In 2023, the campground won the ACSI Award for “Best Camping Pool.

In addition to the wonderful water park, the campground also has its own wellness center. It has the atmosphere of a Roman bathhouse with a sauna, solarium, and Jacuzzis in the family rooms.

Restaurants

The on-site restaurant is also a favorite among locals. Then you know you can eat good food here! You can choose from delicious à la carte dishes such as the regional specialty Gromperekichelcher. But they also offer a daily menu. There are also special children’s menus for children. Note: reservations are recommended.

If you prefer to take away food, you can order pizza from the pizzeria. Or get an easy take-out meal from the snack bar to eat at your own camping spot.

Next to the pool you will find bar “La Coupole. In this cozy bar you can have a nice cool, or warm, drink. Furthermore, you can also find the ice cream and coffee bar here, and you can go for a small meal or a nice piece of cake.

Being bored is really not an option at Camping Nommerlayen! There is a full entertainment program organized by the enthusiastic animation team. These include craft mornings, as well as forest games, quiz nights, various sports tournaments and terrace games. They also organize special theme days, think pirate day or Indian day. You can also participate in live stratego, a hexathlon and much more.

In the evenings, the program is filled with karaoke, fun theme nights, barbecue and disco (for both the smallest children and older children).

Sports & Recreation

Beyond the entertainment program, there is so much more to do at the campground. The campground is very child-friendly, making it a great playground. In the large playground is the campsite’s big attraction: a 50-meter-long giant slide! There is a large volcano that children can climb, clamber and slide on. Definitely going to be a favorite! For the little ones, there is a ball pool and bouncy castle.

Of course, there is also a soccer field as well as beach volleyball courts and table tennis tables. There is also indoor and outdoor billiards and a snooker table. There is even a bowling alley!

Older children will love the bunker, where they can hang out with peers and where the disco is also located. The movie theater will also be a draw for them, as will the pool tables.

However, hiking is the number one activity to do here if you want to discover the beautiful Luxembourg countryside. Immediately behind the campsite starts a one of the oldest and most beautiful hike in Luxembourg. In addition, there are many other beautiful hikes in the area, such as the Mullerthal Trail. Camping Nommerlayen organizes regular walks so you can discover the amazing nature with guidance.
The same goes for bicycle and mountain bike tours. Near the campground you can go trout fishing and there is a golf course. If you love climbing, an outing to Berdorf is highly recommended.
