Camping Kuierpad is a true paradise for adventurers and nature lovers. Located in the beautiful Drentse Highlands, between the Dwingelderveld, the Hondsrug UNESCO Global Geopark and the typical Drentse brink villages, the surroundings are already a picture. Add to that the fact that there are an awful lot of fun and exciting facilities at Camping Kuierpad, and you know you’ve found your favorite vacation destination.
There is no shortage of water sports at this campground: there are several swimming ponds with slides, as well as an indoor and an outdoor pool. You can ski, skate and there is a great climbing park. In addition, you will camp on spacious pitches but there is also a wide range of rental accommodations. And you can bring your dog (almost always). At Camping Kuierpad you are going to have a great vacation!
If you are a nature lover, then Camping Kuierpad is a top campsite. The campsite is located in the forest and the Drenthe countryside is great for beautiful walks and bike rides. You are in the Drenthe Highlands, also known as Middle Drenthe. It is known for its varied natural areas of forest, heathland, sand and peat. There is a large bicycle junction system and walking network making it easy to discover the highlights. The Hondsrug UNESCO Global Geopark is a unique natural area in Europe and dates back to the Ice Age. You will find the famous dolmens, hills (ridges) and you can experience all kinds of things. Go out with a guide or explore the park on foot, bike or horseback. Or explore with the OerToer and learn all about the history of the Hondsrug thanks to fun activities and special locations.
Camping Kuierpad is located near the village of Schoonoord. Here you will find a supermarket, but there is also a pizzeria, a grand café and if you need a doctor or a pharmacy you will find them here as well.
If you are looking for a campground that is still primarily about camping, then Camping Kuierpad is the place to be. In fact, the vast majority of the campground still consists of pitches, which can be divided into two categories, in addition to the permanent pitches. All pitches are surrounded by greenery and are located near one of the swimming ponds, a playground and one of the sanitary blocks. Three types of pitches look as follows:
– Comfort pitch: the comfort pitch is also a spacious camping pitch equipped with its own water point, 10 amp electricity and a sewage connection. In addition, a CAI TV connection (digital only) is included, and again you are allowed to bring a maximum of 2 dogs. Park at or near your camping spot.
– Basic pitch: the basic pitch is a spacious camping pitch equipped with 6 ampere electricity. A water point can be found in the camping field. A maximum of 2 dogs are allowed and you park at or near your camping spot.
There are a total of four bathroom facilities at the campground. These feature dishwashing facilities and separate family showers and baby rooms. On the outside you will find a chemical toilet.
Washers and dryers are available if you want to do laundry.
If you prefer to rent accommodation, that is also possible at Camping Kuierpad. There are several rental accommodations available, we will explain them in more detail below.
– Vacation home: if you are looking for a nice vacation home in Drenthe you need look no further. At Camping Kuierpad are beautiful 4- and 6-person detached vacation homes, all with the typical Drenthe characteristic red/white shutters. The vacation homes are near the camping areas and are not far from the swimming ponds and outdoor center. There are a total of four different houses, each with its own theme based on Drenthe’s history. The vacation homes are about 59m2 in size and come with 2 or 3 bedrooms. – Chalet: this rental is a luxury mobile home with a private veranda and is located near the forest, water or overlooks a large playing field. There are a total of six different types of chalets, suitable for 2 to 6 people and ranging in size from 16m2 to 38m2. All chalets welcome your pets, allowing you to vacation with the whole family. – Camping cabin: if you are looking for glamping then book the camping cabin. The camping cabin has the atmosphere of a tent but luxurious and is about 25m2. So there are beds, you have a fully equipped kitchen (including dishwasher and TV) at your disposal and a toilet. There is electric heating as well as a charging point for your electric bike. – Furnished tent: if you want to enjoy the typical camping atmosphere immediately upon arrival and not have to put up a tent, book a furnished tent at Camping Kuierpad. There are two types of tent to choose from. The Safari Tent Kievit is a fully equipped safari tent for 5 people. They are in a prime location at the campground, namely on the beach of the swimming, surfing and canoeing lake. At 40m2 you have access to a kitchen including a dining table, microwave, refrigerator with freezer, Nespresso machine and a kettle. There are two bedrooms with real beds and a bathroom equipped with a toilet, shower and sink. The large covered porch has garden furniture as well as a lovely lounge sofa. The Hunebed tent is a spacious furnished tent of 29m2 and can accommodate 6 people. The Hunebed tent is on a cozy field equipped with a playground and close to one of the swimming ponds. There is a kitchenette equipped with a refrigerator, Senseo coffee maker, kettle and stove. There are three sleeping cabins with real beds and a covered terrace with garden furniture. Real water rats get their money’s worth at Camping Kuierpad! There are no less than three different swimming ponds including beautiful sandy beaches. The swimming pond where you can also go canoeing and supping even has a whitewater slide. You go down a cool white-water slide with your swimming band and come out in (a cordoned off part of) the swimming pond. Thick fun guaranteed! There is also a swimming pond and a play pond.
If you prefer to swim in a pool, you can do that here, too. The outdoor pool even has a slide and there is a sunbathing area for chilling out. You can also swim in less beautiful weather, namely in the indoor pool. However, this pool is not too big, but you can splash around.
Camping Kuierpad also takes good care of the inner man. There is a restaurant with a small menu for a nice lunch or dinner. Restaurant Deksels also has a nice terrace overlooking the playground. While you enjoy a cup of coffee or a glass of wine, the kids can have fun in the playground. You can also pick up fries & snacks here to eat at your own accommodation.
For a quick bite in the summer, head to the Striethouldt snack cart. They sell delicious Drenthe fries, snacks, drinks, ice cream and tasty sandwiches.
A Molecaten campsite has its own mascots, namely Molly and Caatje. They are part of the enthusiastic animation team at Camping Kuierpad. A varied entertainment program is offered during the summer and autumn vacations. Thus, craft mornings are organized, as well as a mini-disco and various sports and games activities.
Camping Kuierpad is also a teen campground. For example, there is a separate teen area and teenagers can put together their own program with the teen entertainers during the summer vacations.
In addition, there are two Molly & Caatje shows especially for all children. The nice thing is, you can already listen to the music at home via the Spotify list so your child can sing along during the shows! You can also use the website to download coloring pages and a Molly & Caatje memory game. Now that’s vacation fun!
We believe that your children will not want to leave Camping Kuierpad during your vacation! There is so much to experience and do here that you should stay for at least three weeks. So plenty of reasons to book a long vacation, or come back again.
The (Iterative) highlight of this campsite is the park Molecaten Outdoor Drenthe and is suitable for the real adventurer and daredevil. There is a great climbing park where you can show off your climbing skills. And skiing in the summer? At Camping Kuierpad, it’s just possible! The all-weather ski slope does not require snow, so you can practice your skills even in the summer or get introduced to the sport of skiing for the first time. In addition, you can do archery, raft building and canoeing. Bring your own skateboard, skates or your BMX bike and have fun at the skate park. If you want to supp but don’t have your own sup-board, you can rent one here, too. Please note that there is a cost to use the facilities of the park Molecaten Outdoor Drenthe.
Across the campground you will find several playgrounds and playgrounds. So no matter where you sit, a playground(s) is never far away, which is nice for your kids. There is even a special toddler playground for the smallest vacationers.
There are also table tennis tables, a bocce court, an air trampoline and a midget golf & multi golf course. Of course, you can also enjoy playing soccer and basketball in the panna/basketball court or beach soccer field and there is a general sports field.
If you like fishing, you can do so in the Oranjekanaal, right outside the campground.
Thanks to the bicycle junction network, there are plenty of beautiful bike rides to take. If you can’t bring your own bikes, rent one at the campground.
There is a supermarket in the campground for your basic groceries and fresh rolls. Note that the supermarket is not open all day.
In the village of Schoonoord you will find a large supermarket.
There are two charging stations for electric cars.
Camping Kuierpad is a dog-friendly campground. Dogs are allowed on the pitches and in almost all rental accommodations. Walk your dog outside the campground and on the campground your dog must be kept on a leash at all times.
