Camping Rhederlaagse Meren is very special located at the Lathum Lake and the river IJssel. This is the unique Rhederlaag water sports area, with National Park De Hoge Veluwe just a stone’s throw away. Therefore, this campground is excellent for water sports. Rent a boat and go on an adventure; you can easily reach cities like Arnhem by water from here. Of course, this location is also great for especially nice hiking or biking in the area. The Veluwe lends itself ideally to this. In 2021 and 2022, a massive renovation of the park is underway, which visitors are sure to experience some disruption.
Surely this campground is especially attractive for water sports, with so much water around you. Rent a fishing boat at Helrec and head out, or take a sloop and explore the IJssel and its surroundings. Prefer something spectacular? Of course you can, there is a huge choice of water sports you can do. From surfing to kitesurfing and swimming. But there are also some nice towns nearby, such as Doesburg and Rheden. Doesburg is one of the seven Hanseatic cities, with a historic center and particularly beautifully restored monumental buildings. Doesburg is a 15-minute drive from the campground. Of course you have the Veluwe, with Veluwezoom being a wonderful option. Here you can hike, bike, mountain bike and horseback ride. And you can go very far into the woods, where suddenly you won’t meet a human being.
Camping Rhederlaagse Meren has spacious camping sites and each site is connected to the electricity grid. There are several washrooms, with toilets, showers and dishwashing areas. You can be right on the waterfront, or just central to the campground. For the true water sports enthusiast, this is the perfect base, as there is more than enough to do. However, Camping Rhederlaagse Meren is known for its parties and its young people. As a result, it can sometimes be a bit noisy during the day. In addition, the campground is overwhelmingly composed of regular guests, which determines the atmosphere.
On the property are very comfortable vacation homes, where you can go with your family or with your whole family. Located in Lathum, close to Rheden, it is a great location for water sports. In the accommodations themselves, you won’t be much bothered by the noise outside, as indicated by the pitches. All accommodations are equipped with all the conveniences you would expect. Please note that this campground does not allow housing employees of companies. In other words, for a business trip, this campground is not suitable. This is also actively monitored.
Water, there is water everywhere! So you can also enjoy swimming in the Rhederlaag. Like at the Floti Water Park, where there is plenty to do and features many play attributes. The minimum age here is six years, unless accompanied. So be sure not to let your youngest children go alone. A separate entrance fee applies to Floti Water Park: 10 euros per person, per day. Or 15 euros for a whole weekend, or 20 euros for a whole week. By the way, there is a special private beach in front of the campsite, as the ponds are of course open to everyone. The campground itself also has a swimming pool with a nice slide and a spray park. You will also find a special paddling pool here. By this pool there is some catering facilities, so you can be right by the water with your drink.
There are many catering facilities at Rhederlaagse Plassen campsite. There is anyway a restaurant and a cafeteria to have a nice meal at noon and in the evening. For a refreshing or alcoholic beverage and billiards, you can go to brown cafe Old Sailor. This is perhaps the central spot of the campground, which also hosts regular performances. You can also book this venue for a private party, although capacity is limited. Might be better to go to the special events room, where bingo nights are organized and also live music, such as the karaoke night. By the water, you’ll find beach bar Tropicana Beach Lounge and pool bar De Rhederlaag. The latter two are open only during the high season and parties are held here regularly.
Kidsclub Holly is the animation team at Camping Rhederlaagse Meren and operates only in high season and during the Dutch vacations. Expect lots of water with this enthusiastic entertainment team.
This campground is mostly about water sports. You can rent a boat and go out. Adjacent to the campground is also the Marina. From here you can visit various cities, such as the already close by Arnhem. At Helrec, you can rent a boat for fishing. You get the full equipment and you can take it straight up the IJssel. In high season, you can also rent a sloop, which does not require a boating license. There is also a playground, a panna field and you can play boules, so again, you don’t necessarily have to do anything with water. Want to explore the area by ground? Then there are also bikes and e-choppers for rent. Of course, with the Veluwe so close by, that is also an interesting option.
Although there is a supermarket in the campground, its opening hours are very unreliable. Nearby, of course, you will find several supermarkets, so some preparation is recommended in terms of breakfast, for example. Want to do some laundry? Then you can easily go to the laundromat at the campsite.
The campground is really for the water sports enthusiast, that much is clear. Because access to the IJssel River is close by, you can really go in all directions by boat. Nice to go on such an adventure and see where you can go like that. On the IJssel you will find several marinas where you can moor, so go for that freedom!
