Camping El Delfin Verde is a large, child-friendly campsite and is located on one of the Costa Brava’s most beautiful beaches! You are about eight kilometers from the very nice town of Toroella de Montgrí, between Barcelona and the French border. There is certainly no shortage of water fun here. Dolfí Water Park is the huge water park. This water park is shaped like, what else, a dolphin. Add to that the beach, large playground, multiple sports fields and extensive animation and you have a fine place to spend your vacation. This campground is wildly popular among Dutch people, which of course makes it easy to get to know new people quickly. Nearby you will find major cities like Girona and Barcelona as well as Europe’s largest water park, Aqua Brava, in Roses.
First the location: right on the beach, near the village of Toroella de Montgrí, between Barcelona and the French border. In the village you will find ancient ruins of the castle of Montgrí and from that place you will have a breathtaking view of the region. That region has numerous beautiful towns and villages and, with them, several museums and restaurants. The fine town of Pals is highly recommended. The campground is somewhat remote from everything, so everything does feel a bit far and you will often spend extended periods of time in the car. For a sun vacation, however, you do not have to leave the park: with the beach, restaurants, swimming pool, you have a real vacation paradise here. But what about taking advantage of one of the wonderful cycling routes, offered by the campsite?
This complex is huge and consists of four zones. You can choose a zone and then find your own spot. In other words, you are not assigned a camping spot. This can be a great advantage, yet also a disadvantage. You depend on supply. There are two types of pitches at this campground. The standard is already large, at over 100 square meters. You can use 6 amp electricity, which can be increased for an additional charge. There is no water connection or TV connection, which is inconvenient in many cases anyway. Then you have the plus campground, which is a little larger and where you do have a water hookup. Here you have 10 amps of electricity, which can also be increased for an additional cost. The sites are mainly in pine forest area, which means it is shady. The campground has grown considerably in recent years, so communication is mostly via app or email.
There are also numerous options in terms of accommodations, including lodges, bungalows, villas, glamping and a real hotel. Hotel Clipper is close to the beach and you get a room of 35 square meters, with plenty of light. The bungalows are also close to the sandy beach. The accommodations are fully equipped and with all conveniences. Of course, there are several accommodation providers, all offering something slightly different. There is no shortage of swimming fun at Camping El Delfin Verde. The Dolfi Water Park is a 2,000-square-meter park, shaped like a dolphin, has no fewer than five pools and several spectacular slides. In high season, it can get too crowded here, but this water paradise houses everything else. The sandy beach is also nearby, so there is no shortage of cooling. Here you can not only enjoy swimming, but also water sports, such as surfing, diving and sailing.
The campground has several restaurants with different cuisines. So every night you can choose between Catalan cuisine, Italian or Asian. On the beach itself you will find another snack bar, for those cravings in between. There are also four bars, for a well-deserved drink while swimming, or in the evening. You will also find several restaurants at Hotel Clipper. Or visit one of the many restaurants in the surrounding villages; those villages are authentic, medieval and romantic.
Camping El Delfin Verde offers plenty of entertainment. There are four clubs, for four age groups. For children from 4 to 8 there is a mini-club, where the children do crafts, play games (including in the pool) and various theme days. The other three clubs-8 through 12, 13 through 17 and the adults club-are mostly about sports, competitions and tournaments. In the evenings, there are fun activities with live music, magicians and various games. That all stops around 11:30 p.m., when peace returns to the campground. For teenagers, there is also a cozy disco.
So much of the entertainment revolves around sports, and there is that space. A basketball court, eight tennis courts, two paddle courts, four bocce courts, several soccer fields, a beach volleyball court, a badminton court, a multi-sports field and a miniature golf course: there is something to exercise everywhere and at all times. And then there is also a gym, where you can add to your fitness and muscle work. Add to this the opportunities for long walks or bike rides in the area, and you can speak of plenty of exercise during your vacation at Camping El Delfin Verde. Take advantage of the bike tours that start and end at the campsite: to Pals, the Baix Ter, A Gola del Ter, Peratallada and more.
The campground houses an affordable grocery store, with a bakery for fresh bread at breakfast. As mentioned, this campground attracts many Dutch people and what is striking is that there is a lot of food sold from a well-known Dutch supermarket. There is not only a supermarket, but also a laundromat, a hairdresser, a kiosk, a boutique and a doctor’s office.
Grab a bike and do the Ullastret route. 32 kilometers of cycling, on flat terrain directly to Sant Andreu. This is one of the most interesting architectural complexes in the region. You go back to the sixth century BC.
