About Camping Las Dunas

Location and environment

Camping Las Dunas is right by the sea, with at most a dune to cross. Next, the Bay of Roses has everything: you can confidently leave the little ones in the water, because the water deepens very gradually and is certainly not wild. Getting a little deeper, there are plenty of water sports opportunities.

The entire area is characterized by wide and extensive beaches to visit. To the north you will find Cap de Creus, to the south the Montgrí Massif. These bays are among the best beaches in the world, according to UNESCO. And because you’re also in a protected nature reserve here, you won’t find any high-rise buildings. Also note the beach at L’Escala, about three kilometers away and the medieval village of Sant Martí d’Empúries. Ideal for snorkeling.

Swimming

This campsite features an aqua park as large as 5,000 square meters. So then you get a lot of water park, with five slides, rapids and bubbles. Around the pool are sunbeds, which you art free to use. The aqua park is always watched by two lifeguards. In the busy season, it can also get very crowded here, but a walk to the sea is never far away, as mentioned above. And this bay is large, so the crowds here are actually always not too bad.

The nice thing about the pool itself is that very little chlorine is used. The water is disinfected with salt electrolysis. That is, salt is added very subtly, without tasting like the sea, for example. No irritated eyes, no chlorine smell, well good for the environment.

Restaurants

In terms of food, you can hardly miss anything here. There is a restaurant where you can eat á la carte. There are typical regional dishes from Empordá, such as fish dishes, prawns, tapas and paella. On the beach itself you will find a beach grill, which offers more barbecue, cocktails and salads. Also on the beach is a beach bar, where you can get your sangria. The pool bar offers breakfast, as well as snacks and ice creams. The take away restaurant has some “simpler” meals, such as pizza and fries. The Pub la Cova is located in an old Catalan farmhouse. This is now a brown café, with a vaulted interior. You must be at least 18 years old to gain access. On the outskirts of the campsite is another disco FATA, where young people from the area also go. Both the brown café and the disco are soundproofed, so the rest of the campground will not be affected by noise pollution.

Animation

As for animation, there is more than enough to do here. Especially for children, it is a walhalla here, although you have to be a little lucky with the number of Dutch people. There are quite a few playgrounds and, of course, the Aquapark is a huge attraction. This sometimes wants to get a little too crowded during the high season. Animation is led by the mascot Laladu, inspired by a Mediterranean turtle. At the campsite there is a mini-disco and a mini-club, where supervised singing, crafts, drawing. You become a member of Club Laladu.

Even brushing teeth and showering are made fun here. For adults, a stage at the pool bar hosts concerts and performances. This is where cover bands play familiar songs. Even for the slightly older children, there is plenty to do. The XD club is for the 12- to 17-year-olds; there is its own clubhouse for that, from where paintball is organized and mountain bike rides, among other things.
