Camping Riembau

Camping Riembau

Camping Riembau is located in Castell-Platja d’Aro, which consists of the three towns of Castell d’Aro, Platja d’Aro and S’Agaró. This is a Catalan municipality in the heart of the Costa Brava. This metropolitan area has everything you need for a carefree vacation: from shopping, dining and entertainment venues, to history, beach and golden sand. Here you really imagine yourself abroad, as the elongated campground primarily caters to Spaniards. So a poquito Español is not an unnecessary luxury, but not to worry: at the reception, they also speak English. Above all, the campground caters to families, so the entertainment has something for everyone. About a kilometer, or a short half-hour walk from the campground is the beach, where there is plenty of snorkeling and swimming.

Location and environment

The Costa Brava, that’s sun, beach and good living and one of Europe’s most famous tourist areas. A little further south from this campground you’ll find Lloret de Mar, Blanes and eventually Barcelona, which you can easily get to by bus from this spot. But in theory, everything is already here, except for the Sagrada Familia. The area offers more than enough entertainment, although the two aforementioned beach towns will probably do better with older teens and twenty-somethings. The campground offers plenty of excursions in the area, including night trips along the coastal road, guided tours, bike and car rentals, excursions in kayaks, trips to Barcelona, scuba diving, snorkeling, hiking, biking, amusement parks, water parks, golf, horseback riding, archery, bowling, high seas activities and shopping. No, in this resort you really don’t have to be bored.

Pitches

With 1114 spots, this seems like a big campground, but it doesn’t feel that way. The plots measure between 96 and 128 square meters, which at least gives you plenty of space. The nice thing is that you get to pick your own spot here, without too much hassle: so find a spot with enough shade and privacy and your vacation can start with and fine foundation! Scattered throughout the grounds are four toilet blocks, so they are never far away. The campground is well kept, cleanliness is paramount here. By the way, dogs are welcome at this campground; there is even a special dog walking area.

Swimming

You can do extensive and fine swimming here. Camping Riembau has a spacious swimming paradise, with Olympic-sized outdoor pools, a children’s pool and, in case of bad weather, an air-conditioned Olympic-sized indoor pool. So these pools offer plenty of coolness, but as mentioned, the beach is not very far away either. A half-hour walk and you can take a refreshing dip in the Mediterranean Sea.

Restaurants

The campground has a number of places to grab a bite to eat, including a bar-restaurant, an ice cream parlor, a take away service and a glop bar, where you can get beers and ice cream. The roast chicken with fries is very good, and perhaps that says it all: in general, an off-site dinner is more recommended anyway. After all, the campground is not known for its ample supply, while you have the city around the corner, with countless tasty restaurants. In short: in the stores you can score a fine breakfast together, but in the evening seeking that wonderful vibe of the Costa Brava is not an unpleasant thought.

Animation

A glance at Camping Riembau’s weekly calendar of events, already suggests that you won’t be bored here. There are offerings for children under 17 and for parents, in the form of the Riembau Nights, Club Rimbi, a playground, games and the spectacle zone. Every evening there is a water and light show here. Of course, it’s just what you expect from a campground, but older youth and probably childless adults will not quite get their money’s worth as far as entertainment is concerned.

Details and tips

Not specifically, though: pick your ideal spot, have fun with everything the campground has to offer but also get out and about. The area has much to offer and the distances are generally short. Barcelona is about an hour and a half away and, in fact, it is a must visit that city once.
