Camping Valldaro

Camping Valldaro is a large 4-star campsite on the Costa Brava in Spain. The campground is near the lively village of Platja d’Aro, where you can enjoy shopping and find many restaurants. In addition, the long sandy beach on the Mediterranean Sea is a real attraction and only a half-hour walk from the campsite. Camping Valldaro is a cozy campsite and is popular among Dutch guests. The campground feels like a park thanks to its Mediterranean vegetation with palm trees and tropical flowers. Thanks to the various pools, there is plenty of water fun for young and old alike. The animation team organizes fun activities for younger children and they have a separate program for the teens. There is also plenty to do in the evenings at Valldaro campground. If you want to go out, there are plenty of villages and towns to visit in the immediate vicinity, think of Girona and Tossa de Mar.

Location and environment

The cozy village of Platja d’Aro is less than 2.5 kilometers from Valldaro campsite. This village is known for its long and wide sandy beach and promenade. In addition, you can enjoy shopping here and it becomes difficult to choose from the many restaurants. There is also a large, permanent, fairground where the kids are sure to have a great time! You can easily walk there from the campground.

If you also want to see some of the surroundings during your vacation, there are plenty of (small) fishing villages to be found in the vicinity of Valldaro campground. The city of Girona is just a 30-minute drive away. You can take a beautiful walk along the city walls from where you can get a nice view of the city and its towers. The Catedral de Santa Maria is also worth a visit. This large cathedral stands at the second highest point in the city; note that the cathedral can only be visited after climbing 90 steps.

Drive 30 minutes south and you’ll arrive in Tossa de Mar, a popular seaside resort and one of Catalonia’s more beautiful coastal towns. The old city wall is a real eye-catcher, in addition to the beautiful city beach and the narrow streets of the old town.

World city Barcelona is also worth a visit, although you have to drive a little further for this (about 1.5 hours). But then you can admire the Ramblas, the Sagrada Familia and stadium Camp Nou in real life.

For a day of lots of water fun, Aquadiver water park is a must, just a 5-minute drive from the campground.

If you don’t feel like driving all the way to the Spanish coast, you can also fly to Valldaro campground. Girona Airport is the nearest airport about 30 km away. Josep Tarradellas Airport (Barcelona-el Prat) is 120 kilometers away.

Pitches

Camping Valldaro is still a real campsite with about 1000 pitches. Upon arrival at the campground, you will be assigned your pitch. There are three different camping spots to choose from; we explain them in more detail below:

– Standard: this pitch is between 70-90 m2 in size, suitable for 6 people and includes 10 ampere electricity connection. You book this camping spot through Allcamps.
– Plus, this pitch is between 90-110 m2 in size and has its own sink in the pitch. It can accommodate 6 people and includes 10-amp electric hookup.
– Premium: the largest pitch at this campground with a size of 150-180m2. There is water connection (tap) and drainage available, the pitch can accommodate 6 people and includes 10 ampere electricity connection.

Camping Valldaro is a pet-friendly campsite. This means you can bring your dog with you. They are welcome in all camping areas.

There are a total of four sanitary buildings, equipped with toilets, showers, washbasins, bathtubs for children, cabins for the disabled and dishwashing sinks. The sanitary facilities are well kept clean throughout the day.

There are laundry rooms where you can wash and dry your clothes.

Accommodations

Swimming

In the campground there are two areas with swimming pools. Next to Magnòlia restaurant are the newest pools, including a large family pool. There is also a separate children’s pool for toddlers. There is a play boat and you go down the small slide via the lighthouse. If you want to go down the big slides, you’ll find those here, too. There are four slides to slide down. The extra-large hot tub invites you to relax for a while!

The second area is next to restaurant The Orangerie. Here you will also find a large family pool and there is also a separate paddling pool for toddlers.

Both swimming areas have a large sunbathing area and are equipped with loungers. You lie there among palm trees and beautiful flowers.

If you also love the beach, then you are in the right place. The Mediterranean Sea is within walking distance (1.5 km) from the campsite. You can enjoy swimming and all kinds of water sports, or just relax on the wide sandy beach. On the long promenade there are numerous restaurants and bars. There is also a beach volleyball net available.

Restaurants

There are two restaurants, both are located near the pool and have a large terrace. The Magnòlia restaurant is located next to the newest pools. They offer all kinds of dishes, from paella to salads, pastas and tapas. You can also order all kinds of delicious sandwiches here as well as burgers and omelettes. There is even a menu for gluten-free dishes. And if you actually can’t miss the Dutch snacks during your vacation, then you’re in luck because you can get them here too. So even in the Spanish sun you can enjoy a frikandel or cheese soufflé!

The second restaurant is restaurant L’Orangerie. This restaurant is located by the other pool and serves excellent Mediterranean cuisine.

At both restaurants you can also pick up food to eat at your own accommodation or camping spot. The campsite is of course close to Platja d’Ara where you can find an awful lot of restaurants. Therefore, you don’t have to worry about not being able to eat well during your vacation!

Animation

Thanks to the animation team, you won’t have to be bored during your vacation. There is a whole program for all audiences: children, teens and parents/adults. For example, various sports classes are offered daily, including yoga, aquagym, zumba, aquazumba and body training. In addition, a variety of sports tournaments are organized for teens and adults to participate in. So if you like playing soccer, basketball, volleyball or any other sport, this is where you can show how good you are. There are also other fun activities for teens, such as a graffiti painting workshop, WII tournaments and various water activities. In their own Teens Club, they can meet other peers and chill on one of the couches and beanbags.

The younger children can also do all sorts of things. There is a mini-disco, of course, but they can also do crafts, painting, pottery and much more. And that often in the Darona Club, the space of the animation team.

In the evening there is a fun evening program with quizzes, discos, bingo and various performances.

Sports & Recreation

As mentioned above, the animation team organizes many sports activities. But even if you want to do something active yourself, you can do so at Valldaro campground. There are several sports fields where you can play soccer, volleyball or basketball. There is a separate mini-football field and a mini-golf course at the campground. Of course, you can also bring your table tennis bats, as there are ping pong tables available. In addition, there is a tennis court and also a padel court at the campground where you can hit a ball (for a fee).

To the environment lends itself to be discovered by bicycle. If you can’t bring your own, you can rent bikes at the campground. There is also a go-kart rental available to cruise around the campground.

Stores

For your shopping you don’t have to leave the campground, as there is a large supermarket available with a wide selection. You can even find several Dutch products there! Being near Platja d’Aro, there are several supermarkets in the area such as an Aldi, Spar, Carrefour and Esclat.

In Platja d’Aro you can enjoy shopping and find well-known chain stores. But hardware stores and a Decathlon are also nearby.
