Camping Playa Bara is a 4-star campsite on the Costa Dorada, or the Gold Coast of Spain. Surrounded by tropical flowers and palm trees, this lively campground is located on the beach. Camping Playa Bara is located directly on the beach of the Costa Dorada, also called the gold coast of Spain for its beautiful sandy beaches. Camping Playa Bara is also right on the sandy beach; walk through the railroad tunnel and you’ll be there in no time.
There is also plenty to explore in the surrounding area, including the fantastic city of Barcelona. Explore the Ramblas, the just-completed Sagrada Familia and the beautiful Parc Guell. If you are a soccer fan then of course a visit to Camp Nou, FC Barcelona’s stadium, should not be missed.
But also visit the beautiful city of Tarragona. This city also has a Ramblas, but a lot quieter and perhaps more beautiful thanks to its fountains, beautiful buildings and restaurants. There is also a very beautiful old town, Part Alte, with an amphitheater overlooking the sea. Furthermore, the old cathedral and the harbor are also a must see.
The PortAventura adventure park is near campsite Playa Bara and is a cool amusement park with roller coasters, shows and many rides. Another fun action outing is the toboggan run in Calafell.
If you want to visit camping Playa Bara with your own tent, trailer tent or caravan, it is certainly still possible. There are several camping spots to choose from. For all spots, they are suitable for up to 6 people, there is 5A of electricity included and you can increase it (for a fee) to 10A and you must bring an extension cord of at least 20 meters. Furthermore, you should park your car in your spot. Below we list the different camping spots for you.
There are several washrooms at the campground and they are all kept neatly clean. There is also a room with several washing machines and clothes dryers.
Of course, there is plenty of choice in rental accommodations at campsite Playa Bara. The mobile homes come in different sizes, types and luxury versions. Camping Playa Bara’s water park also looks fantastic. You imagine yourself in a botanical garden thanks to the cheerful flowers and beautiful palm trees. The water park consists of four (connected) pools and there are six slides. There are also two paddling pools, one with mini-slides and the other with water toys and water sprays. Relax in the ocean-view Jacuzzi or head to the Wellness for even more relaxation. There you can book a massage or enjoy the sauna and whirlpools.
If you got thirsty while swimming, stop by the pool bar. Now that’s real vacation, sipping a delicious drink in the pool! The lifeguards are quite strict and you may be accosted if you are playing in the water. Basically, there are plenty of sunbeds around the pool, but in high season it can be quite crowded.
Fortunately, then, you can always go out to the beautiful sandy beach. The campground is actually right on the beach, but there are still railroad tracks running between the beach and the campground. So you walk there in a few minutes, under the railroad tunnel. The beach is not very wide, which is typical of this area, but offers you a nice alternative to the pool and you can play with sand and the waves. There are a few beach bars present on the beach.
If you prefer to take away some food or have a nice meal during your vacation, you can do so at campsite Playa Bara. There are several restaurants of which Mas Bara is the main restaurant. You can come here all day, including breakfast. They offer daily menus and a la carte dishes.
Ona da Bara is the restaurant by the sea and overlooking the sea. You can eat typical Spanish dishes such as paellas, tapas and fish. There is also a rooftop terrace for a cocktail or other delicious drink while enjoying the sunset.
By the pool you have restaurant Forum where you can get burgers, sandwiches, pizza and tapas. Near the amphitheater, you’ll find restaurant Olympus for sandwiches, pizzas and tapas. There is also a bar here for your drinks during the evening shows.
If you prefer to take away some food, you can do so at the Take Away. There are pizzas, paellas, roast chicken, burgers and more snacks on the menu. However, opinions are a bit divided on this regarding quality.
The animation team at Camping Playa Bara is super enthusiastic and offers an extensive program throughout the season. There are different programs for different age groups. For the little ones, there is a mini-club where they can do fun outdoor activities and games. Every day there is a mini-disco and in addition they can participate in scavenger hunts, bingo and much more. Many sports tournaments are organized for the Juniors. They can also participate in various games and other outdoor activities.
Youth from 16 years old and adults can participate in various sports and sports tournaments throughout the day, for example, soccer, padel and tennis. But you can also participate in archery or take a zumba class. Other group classes offered include pilates, spinning and yoga. There are also wine tastings and a variety of games such as bingo.
In the evening there is a daily show in the amphitheater that is really of very high quality. You are sure to be entertained during the musicals, acrobatic shows and talent shows. There is also live music and comedy nights.
You certainly don’t have to sit still during your stay at campsite Playa Bara because there is super much to do. There are padel courts, tennis courts, table tennis tables and a mini golf course. Furthermore, you can play soccer, basketball, bocce and much more.
The campground has playgrounds where children can play. If you want to explore the area by bike, rent a bike from the bike rental.
There is a supermarket available with a wide assortment. In the morning, you can buy delicious fresh bread and there are also Dutch products for sale.
In the souvenir shop you can buy nice souvenirs as well as different products for the beach or in the water. At the hair salon, you can get your haircut touched up.
If you want to go to another supermarket, there is a Lidl less than 1.5 km from the campsite.
There is an ATM at campsite Playa Bara, as well as charging points for your electric car. There is also a washing area for your car. Should you need a doctor during your vacation you can go to the medical post at the campground.
Throughout the campsite you will find several water points where you can tap drinking water.
