But while you’re there, you must also have seen the Château de Brest.

There is also a magnificent cathedral, Saint-Pierre, and an 18th-century basilica, Saint-Sauveur. And a visit to Palais du Parlement should also not be missed during your visit to Rennes.

Cuisine of Brittany

Brittany is known for its cuisine and is one of France’s leading gastronomic regions. Of course, the sea has an important influence in Breton cuisine. Here you can enjoy delicious dishes of fish and shellfish, such as shrimp, lobster, oysters and crab. In addition, Brittany is known for its French crepes and galettes. In Gourin, there is even an annual competition on who can bake the biggest crepe! The most famous drink from this region is apple cider. After all, Brittany is also known for its many orchards. Climate in Brittany

Brittany has a temperate maritime climate, making the weather mild throughout the year. In summer, however, Brittany is an excellent vacation destination: it gets more than twenty degrees and it never actually gets too hot. It can get warmer in southern Brittany than in the north, though. The weather can be changeable, but you are least likely to have rain in the summer. In spring or fall it is the quietest in terms of tourists, but you have to expect more precipitation. Although this falls more inland in Brittany than on the coastline.

By car, you can be in Brittany in one day. From Utrecht, it is about 900 kilometers away. If you want a stopover then a stop in Normandy is a good idea, as this is another beautiful French region with lots of history.
