Camping Les Méditerranées Charlemagne is a beautiful 5-star family campsite in the south of France. The campsite is located in the center of the village of Marseillan-Plage so there are many stores and restaurants within walking distance. The campground has a fine outdoor pool including a number of slides. There is also an indoor pool for a nice splash. Camp Charlemagne is a not too large campground with less than 500 spots, which makes it quite manageable and makes it a nice campground to visit with your family. There is a large supermarket right next to the entrance of the campsite and for the bakery with a wide selection you just have to cross the road.
Note that the rental accommodations of providers such as Homair and Eurocamp are located in a separate part of the campground. Through a gateway you have access to this area. There is also a separate entrance from the main road.
Camping Les Méditerranées Charlemagne is part of the Les Méditerranées group, which includes two other campsites, Beach Garden and Nouvelle Floride. Charlemagne shares its entertainment program with Nouvelle Floride campground; it is at that campground that the entertainment activities take place. All you have to do for this is cross the road and you’re already there. So as a guest of Charlemagne, you have access to campsites Nouvelle Floride but also to Camping Beach Garden. This actually gives you three water parks to choose from including all the other facilities the campsites offer, such as restaurants, beach entrances, wellness and much more.
Camping Les Méditerranées Charlemagne is located in the village of Marseillan-Plage, in the Languedoc-Roussillon region. This part of France is known for its beautiful, sunny weather. From this campsite you don’t have direct access to the beautiful, wide sandy beach, but through Camping Nouvelle Floride you can get there in no time.
The entrance to Charlemagne is at the front of Marseillan-Plage, which is a bustling tourist village with plenty of choice of restaurants and bars. The village itself is not particularly charming, but the diverse range of restaurants makes it worth a look. There are also plenty of stores and a number of discotheques for the older youth to go to.
Languedoc-Roussillon stretches from the Rhône to the Spanish border and is known as the largest wine region in France. Marseillan-Plage falls under the Hérault department, where you can engage in numerous activities, including exploring nature reserves, picturesque towns and villages, and the UNESCO World Heritage Canal du Midi, a canal 240 kilometers long.
Nîmes, Carcassonne and Sète are nice towns to visit. The town of Béziers is not far from the campground. The city park in Béziers is recommended for a nice walk, fun playgrounds and a waterfall. Furthermore, in this old medieval village you will find the Saint Nazaire Cathedral, a beautiful Gothic cathedral with nice views of the surroundings. Thanks to the many restaurants and cafes, there are plenty of places to relax for a while. If you want to visit one of the many caves, one of the most beautiful is the Cave of Clamouse.
Seaside resort Cap d’Agde, known for its marina, vast sandy beaches and water sports facilities, is not far from the campground. During the summer months of July and August, there is a large amusement park with roller coasters, a Ferris wheel and more.
At Camping Les Méditerranées Charlemagne you can also go with your own camping equipment, because in addition to the rental accommodations, there are also many camping pitches. There is one type of camping spot you can book here:
There are four bathroom facilities at the campground. It all looks very neat and it is kept very clean. There are sanitary buildings that have already been renovated and there are a few sanitary buildings that are fairly basic. However, you never have to walk far if you want to shower or need to wash dishes.
In sanitary building 3 you will find the washing machines and tumble dryers. There is also a washer and dryer in the area where the providers’ rental accommodations are.
At Les Méditerranées Charlemagne campsite, you have a choice of various, luxury, rental accommodations. More than half of all rental accommodations belong to the campground itself. These are beautiful and luxurious accommodations and are all not very far from the pool. As at Camping Beach Garden and Nouvelle Floride, providers’ rental accommodations are located in a different part of the campground. Through a gate you will arrive at these accommodations. You can also access this part of the campground from the main road. These accommodations are available for rent through Allcamps, Eurocamp, Homair, LuxCamp and VacanceSelect. Camping Les Méditerranées Charlemagne offers private accommodations. These are all modern and luxurious accommodations, and sometimes even with a private jacuzzi! With most accommodations, you don’t have to worry about bedding, towels, final cleaning and WiFi because this is all included in the price. What a luxury! And in the accommodations below, you may bring your dog.

There is a fine swimming pool at Charlemagne campground that consists of a pool with a separate children’s pool. The children’s pool has a slide and a waterfall mushroom. There are also a few slides that open into a separate pool, and in the rapids you can float along or swim against the current. There is also a nice indoor pool where you can splash around and also bubble in the hot tub. Around the pool are sun loungers so you can enjoy the sun while your children play in the pool.
Most of the activities of the entertainment program of campsites Charlemagne and Nouvelle Floride take place at campsite Nouvelle Floride, but the aquagym lessons are mainly at campsite Charlemagne. This also applies to Aquabike classes.
The pool at this campground is not very big, but that doesn’t matter because you can use the water parks of campsites Nouvelle Floride and Camping Beach Garden. Beach Garden’s water park is the largest and is nice and clear. At Nouvelle Floride, you imagine yourself in a tropical garden when you go swimming.
There is a restaurant near the pool where you enjoy lunch. Here you can also pick up food to eat at your own accommodation. If you want to eat out in the evening, it is just outside the camping gate around the corner from the entrance. There is restaurant Le Charlemagne and a bar for a nice cocktail. In addition, you can eat pizza and there is a tapas section. If you want ice cream, you can go there, too. Of course, you can also walk further into the village where you have even more choice of restaurants.
There is a restaurant with a sea view at Camping Nouvelle Floride and you will also find a nice restaurant with a roof terrace overlooking the sea at Camping Beach Garden.
Camping Les Méditerranées Charlemagne shares its entertainment program with its neighbor, camping Nouvelle Floride. So they have a common program and offer many fun activities. The animation team is great and very enthusiastic and will make sure that your vacation is even more fun. So boredom will not be an issue, whether you want to be sporty, watch cool evening shows or follow fun activities at the Mini Club. All (evening) shows and the Mini Club take place at the stage at the Nouvelle Floride campsite.
The Mini Club consists of two groups: for 5-8 year olds and 9-11 year olds. Fun activities are organized every working day, in the morning and in the afternoon. Activities are based on a weekly theme, such as pirates. Activities are tailored to that theme. On Wednesdays, your child can go to the Mini Club all day as they will be entertained between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., including lunch. There is also, of course, a mini disco and children’s shows. For a fee, rides on a banana boat are organized, something our children found very cool. At the clubhouse, also at the Nouvelle Floride campsite, there is also a large playground.
For children between the ages of 12 and 17, there is a separate club called Club Ados. There is a private (hanging) place for this group, and you will find it next to the stage at the Nouvelle Floride campsite. Activities organized for the group of teenagers include board games and sports tournaments.
Of course, all kinds of activities are organized for adults as well. You can choose from several sports to practice in the morning, including yoga, pilates, cardio training, aqua gym and more. Furthermore, sports tournaments, dance classes and dart tournaments are organized. Every night you can watch a show, of high quality. It will take place after the mini disco, which begins at 9 p.m. It hosts concerts, theater and dance shows and musicals.
The animation team speaks mostly French and a few speak English.
As mentioned under the heading “Animation,” all kinds of sports activities are organized by the animation team. There is no separate sports field at Camping Les Méditerranées Charlemagne, for that you have to be back at Camping Nouvelle Floride or Beach Garden. It does have a playground and a ping pong table.
At Camping Nouvelle Floride and Camping Beach Garden, there is a bike rental, for when you want to explore the area by bike. They can tell you more about scenic biking routes, and they also know the most popular hiking trails.
At Charlemagne campground, you do sit near a large supermarket, as the SPAR supermarket is right at the entrance with a wide selection, including fresh butcher and fresh tapas products (such as olives and fresh cheeses). The campground also has a small bakery, but you will find a larger bakery opposite the campground. Also, there are all kinds of other stores there. The campground is the starting point for the stores, restaurants and bars of Marseillan-Plage.
The Lidl and the Intermarché Hyper can be found about 10 car minutes from the campsite. There are also more stores there, such as Action and Decathlon….
Camping Les Méditerranées Charlemagne is a dog-friendly campsite. In many rental accommodations you are allowed to bring your dog, just like in the camping areas. There is even a special dog shower available.
The Les Méditerranées group includes three campsites, namely Beach Garden, Nouvelle Floride and Charlemagne. They are within walking distance of each other and with your wristband you have free access to all three campsites. By booking one campsite, you get three campsites. Camping Charlemagne is a not too large campground, but it does have fewer pitches. Again, there are many different rental accommodations and the rental accommodations of the different providers are in a separate part of the campsite (closed with a code). There is a water park, but it is smaller than the other two campsites. The water park is a bit smaller, but then again you are close to the large SPAR supermarket and the lively center of Marseillan-Plage.
Camping Nouvelle Floride is about the same size as Charlemagne and has a nice water park with fun slides for all ages, a chill lounge and hot tub. However, this water park is less orderly. Here you will find many rental accommodations and camping spots. Not all the plumbing is comparable to Beach Garden, but it is possible that it will be updated in the future. It is, of course, clean. And the providers’ rental properties are on the other side of the road. Through entrance gates you can get to the accommodations or to the campground. This makes you feel less part of the campsite. The large terrace and stage are right on the beach, giving you beautiful views of the sea. Camping Les Méditerranées Beach Garden is the largest of the three campsites and has a beautiful water park. The entire campground is taken care of to perfection and has a wonderful tropical atmosphere. In the central part, everything is compact and close together; this is also where the camping spots are. This campground has direct access to the beach (by code lock) and has a clear swimming pool. Again, the provider’s rental accommodations are on a separate part of the campground.
